Imagine pre-ordering or buying day 1, and then getting slapped in the face like this…. good job R*

    • Yeah pretty shitty. You're not normally allowed to put a discount on your product for 30 days after release, but I think Steam can approve it manually for special occasions (clearly a video game awards show which garners industry respect deserves it..).

      • which garners industry respect deserves it

I thought everyone was aware that that the awards are rigged like most games journalism.

        • Was being facetious, it's just a shitty award show no one actually cares about. People tune in because of announcements.

Then again the die hard fanboys love when their game gets goty as if it matters.

    • To be fair people should have expected price drops considering there were ones for Epic Store around 20% off even before it launched the month after on Steam.

      • comparing prices between steam and epic isn't fair. you know epic is cheaper for a reason..

  • how is the performance now that they've released a few patches? does the game still crash for some people?

    • Never had any crashes but performance is still hit and miss, I found a sweet spot and get 60fps constant but it took a while to figure it out. Turning off MSAA made a HUGE difference though. Didn't see any notable difference between dx12 and vulkan (on a 2080)

      • I probably got really unlucky but I ended up returning it because I couldn't even start playing it. Initially it took me 3 hours to try and get their terrible launcher to install which crashed or froze constantly. Then when I finally got past that and was actually able to open the game while in the menu it would freeze for several minutes before it started working again. Finally (I was trying to play online with a friend) I got kicked back to the menu 3 times during the unskippable intro cut-scene before I decided to just refund it. Not saying this will happen but your mile may vary.

        • None of your issues happened for me but I know the launcher was an issue for my friend, he ended up refunding because of that. Maybe I got lucky because I had it installed beforehand but otherwise the launcher is fine, takes maybe 5-10 seconds to launch from it after I launch it from steam.

Game's definitely having its issues for some people though and it's pretty ridiculous that Rockstar are this incompetent.

  • I know the game itself RDR2 is amazing and I have been so very patient in waiting this long for proper PC Steam release. But does anyone know if most of the main issues from launch have been patched and it is working well? How about optimisation?

Very eager to pull the trigger on this six shooter.

I'll wait for it to go down to $20 I think - So based on Rockstar's previous titles - I'll get it in 2025

Yeh, by then Graphic will be powerful enough to run it in 4K at higher refresh rate. Atm the 2080ti is the only one that run around 60fps at 4K

  • hmmm.. I need to find a way to buy steam credit with my $50 ebay voucher

There are a few hidden tweaks to make the game run at High on 60FPS. Would only recommend buying this if you have the patience to sit down and tweak for as few hours.

Choosing a preset and then reducing two or three settings takes about about a minute.

Then you clearly haven't played the game. There are around 50ish graphics options to change, a few of them require restarts, plus loading, etc.

Please don't come in here and spread misinformation.

  • you can always buy this for 53 aud on the rockstar store using a ukraine vpn if you dont wanna pay full price

Not being rude, but is this actually a bargain? To me, PC Game bargains are some time after their release and I'd say south of $50.
Definitely keen to get RDR2, but not yet at a bargain price IMO.

    • it is a bargain, on Steam at least.

of course it's ~60 bucks elsewhere but you'll have to redeem it on Rockstar Launcher

but remember you'll have to launch Rockstar Launcher even if you buy the Steam version :d

  • What is standard Steam price for it?
In other words, how good is the deal? :)

    • +1

      Normal price was $89.95.
