Western Digital External Hard Drives from Amazon - Power Adapter Question

Just received my WD Elements 10TB external HDD today from Amazon AU shipped by Amazon US. The power brick mentions 100-240V 50-60Hz so I'm thinking it will work fine if I just use a "dumb" US to AUS power plug adapter?

People on here also said that WD Australia would send you out an Aussie power brick if I contacted them, could somebody please give me some more details on who exactly to contact and what I should say?

Thanks!

Register your hard drive and contact WD support. They will FedEx you one free of charge

    • Alright thanks, I just did all that.

A plug adaptor will work fine if you happen to get the US plug. Usually if sold locally you should get an AU plug. Anyway the adaptor is rated up to 240V so it will be ok.

    • Just edited post to say I got it from Amazon which shipped from US haha
Thanks for the reply! I'll give it a go when I can remember where I put my adapter..

Adapter works fine, as does plugging it into something like a Xiaomi powerboard.

  • Shucking is good if you have a spare bay. Saves the heartache if this gets knocked off the desk or something!
