ShopBack Ignorance. Never Used It

Please forgive me.
As a new consumer to use shopback am I missing something?

I want to buy a laptop off microsoft. Its $1599 with or without the education pricing so that doesnt matter.

Using shopback its also another 10% off for students. (I have a uni email)
So all I have to do is have an account with shopback…click the Microsoft link through the website go through the shop to find my laptop i want and purchase it…then I get money back to my shopback account which I transfer…is it seriously that easy?

Again please forgive me. I always see shopback but ive always hesitated to use it.

  • If it's something like this (this?)you can save 20% ($300) by buying off eBay without worrying about cashback ;)

    • Hey, unfortunately its not that haha. Its the Surface laptop 3. And the microsoft ebay store doesnt even stock it!

The 10% off isn't cashback, it's a discount that Microsoft Store offer students

        • Thats cool. Im a student anyway and have a uni email. Thanks for checking that:)

It can take up to 48 hours for your cashback to be tracked and reflected in your ShopBack account. Your Pending Cashback will take between 1 to 120 days to be validated by our merchants and the amount claimed varies for different merchants.

Once you have accumulated a minimum amount of cashback in your account, there are 2 ways to withdraw - Transfer to your Bank account or to your PayPal account. You can only withdraw cashback from your account once you reached a minimum amount of AUD$10 confirmed cashback in your Available Balance. Your withdrawal request will then be processed and the cashback will be deposited into you preferred account within 3 - 5 working days.

Dont use a web browser with an adblocker or the purchase wont track.
Close all other windows before you click through from shopback.
My normal browser is Firefox and Ive installed lots of adons so I dont use that for Shopback/cashrewards. I open a browser I never use for anything else, like Edge, then log onto shopback then click through.
Once youve clicked through and logged on to the site you are purchasing on, make sure your shopping cart is empty, on some sites if the item is already in the cart, it wont track.

Cashrewards, I reckon has much better customer service when something goes wrong but I find shopback is much better at tracking the purchase. Thats my experience, thousands will disagree.

Or Honey. That extension will place affiliate links all over the place to get commission in return for using coupons found through their plugin. Seems to be a common issue lately.

    like Edge

So you're the one using Edge. Nice to meet you.

  • I forgive you.

  • is it seriously that easy?

The vendor you buy from needs traffic that buys stuff.

They pay other parties that send traffic a commission for each sale.

Shopback pays most of this to the buyer (while keeping some as profit) to encourage them to use Shopback as a referral.
