Look on gumtree if you don’t look down on secondhand.

Furniture looses heaps of value as soon as it is purchased.

People moving interstate or overseas will be delighted to sell everything in one transaction, for cents on the dollar compared to new.

  • Large Salvation Army warehouses have GOOD stuff for a steal.

  • After recently looking at lounge suites and dining tables at the local brand name furniture stores, I found they all have regular sales they cycle through. Usually they vary a bit in discounts and sometimes some items are excluded etc, but it wasn't the sort of thing we wanted to buy early with no where to put it just to try and save a few $$. When we were ready to buy, we looked and the current sales were worse than what we had seen before, but sure enough the next week 2 of the 3 sotres we narrowed it down to had great sales. Sales people are usually happy to tell you what special is coming up too.

We would have waited up to a month, but I think the sales cycle for most of these furniture places is to continually have aggressive sales.

Just don't ever buy at a standard ticketed price if your preference isn't on special - if you have time now then go visit these stores once every few weeks and check prices on your favourite items. Beware that some items take weeks to be ready if they don't have stock, so maybe that will work in your favour if you bought something early. Our loungesuite ended up being about 3 weeks from memory.

  • Gumtree or eBay

You can get amazing quality for a fraction of the retail price.

  • I'd look up second hand markets first and try scoring a few deals

  • Yeah i dont want a used gross sofa that I'll need to wash out. Where else?

  • Merged from Purchasing sofa set from LuxoLiving. Worth it for the price or not?

    Hi everyone,

I am considering to purchase this sofa set from LuxioLiving

Fore the price it looks really good. However, the reviews on web are quite polarised which is making me double minded.

I understand that you get what you pay for. But still I don't want something which will start falling apart in matters of month. I am renting atm hence I don't mind replacing furniture like after 2-3 years.

I am open to suggestions or recommendations from other places well.

    Thank you

I hope, I am posting in the right category.

    • I prefer from Sofa King

      • Why? or do you just make pointless comments?

Did you go to a store and sit on it? I've sat on sofas like that before and many of them have a back that is too low and they also feel too low to the ground. But very cheap price I agree.

    • The answer is "it depends". I usually go for King Furniture which is expensive, but better priced if you can lock onto one of their 70% off for floor stock sales.

However, we just got one of these

      https://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/S09216755/

in a straw/dark orange colour combination for $299 in the Ikea scratch and dent area so we bought it for the front area of our house. It works quite well and can be easily converted into a double bed.

My suggestion is look for something that is very comfortable and can double as a bed, if need be. All our couches are very comfortable to sleep on - which is useful if we have people over.

    • Seems like this company really struggles with company service whenever something goes wrong.
