Are Kogan Reviews Legit?

Hi everyone,

Reviews on the Kogan site are mainly short and to the point. They also seem too good to be true, rendering me to think if the reviews are actually from genuine customers.

Have you shopped from Kogan? What's your experience?

i think its like anywhere …

some would be real .. some are fake.

if im going to buy something online, i try to research the model number from a variety of sites.

Youtube is another good place because if its something popular, people may have reviewed it and given a fairly unbiased review (depending on who does the reviewing, but when you have multiple videos from different people, it should be more genuine)

  • Why don’t you ask Kogan?

    • +2

Because Kogan will probably say yes

In reality, you'll never know the truth unless you work for them :)

        Kogan will probably say yes

        You don’t know for sure…

        • Why my second line stated, you would never know the truth .. it's all part of marketing gimmicks

I don't trust the reviews on Kogan. A friend bought a steam mop that broke after 4 uses and I took a look at the listing. Not only are there hundreds of "it's great" kinda reviews, but there are bad reviews with 5 stars attached. Seems very dodgy.

    • I have a steam mop from them, about 1 yr old. Pretty happy with it. Perhaps friend got bad batch.

      • I had Kogan steam mop as well and it broke after few months.

if there isnt any bad reviews then there has to be something wrong.

i gave a review on an item on JB and it got revoked because it didnt adhere to their policy….. i usually do research on reviews and the best i can get are the likes from you tube with a decent hands on, if not then go by gut instinct.

  • Yeah, nah, great

All reviews (and opinions, and "news") should be scrutinized by the end consumer.

If a review goes ,"5 star. Best product. Shit on all other product," it doesn't say much and hence, the overall score rating should also be taken with a bag of salt.

Look for reviews that actually say why the product is good. "This product is good but can be better. It shits on the other product as described but the shit is inconsistent and lacks texture. Would give a 5 star rating if product matched price of shittier product or shits more consistently."

  • I tried to review a product but couldn't find how to do it.

    IMO
    Definitly fake
They control the reviews - just like the google play app store, so many 4+ star displays with all the reviews being 1-2 stars - another corporate scam
Do you really think they will keep the negatives (up front) on a successfully selling high margin crap product?
Sometimes the kogan reviews appear on other items, word for word
Ebay is another faker for reviews

Ask yourself… would a business leave bad reviews for their products on their own website? Of course not.
They might leave a few semi-bad reviews to make people think all the reviews are legitimate. But they would definitely filter the worst.

    • Would imagine they use a service like Removify to try and remove the negative ones.

    • IME this is true on the vast majority of websites. But suprisingly not all.

  • just brought my samsung there love it, always buy phones from there. Didn't have model i wanted here.

Yay! We found the Kogan employee…

I don't think he/she is. Kogan would never self promote like that. They're an outstanding company offering top quality products at everyday low prices.

        • Ruslan, is that you?

Kogan is not the only one. I was looking to buy a play mat for a mate's kid during the black friday sales and came across a site which only had 5 star-ratings for every single one of their products 🙄

i bought over 50 items from kogan, never asked for a review and never found a place i could leave a review.
i won't say those reviews ar fake, but definitely NOT from the kogan's buyers.
this brings out another question; some items ar kogan exclusived, where else they got the reviews form then ?! som most likely YES ! they fake the reviews!!

  • For peace of mind i just head over to https://www.productreview.com.au/write-review

    • Ive noticed Kogan have hundreds of positive reviews there from reviewers who all signed up on the same date and only have one review. Not suss at all…..
