One of the best games ever.

Games like this I would much rather play on PC - many more quality of life mods. Great game though!

This is true. However, the Xbox version of Skyrim allows for a whole heap of mods. It's night and day between that and the PS4. The only thing missing from the Xbox mods are the UI changes (so no SkyUI).

      • The PS4 version does have mods… I've played it. I got this exact version for PS4 like 6 months ago for $15 from Big W.

  • Can anybody comment on what its like to play this on console vs pc? I currently have it on PC but my laptop is too slow to play the special edition, can only manage the original edition.

    • Xbox is great. Mods are awesome. It runs at 4K on the Xbox One X too, if you have one.

In true ozb fashion i only have the xbox one s minecraft console with a pile of shame from amazon, eb and entertainment exchange with no games costing above $20 and most ~$5. $12 to play the game I have spent the most time on ever on a big tv isn't a bad value prop tho.

I used to play on PC but similar to you, gave up when a new upgrade was required. I still go through and play this on XBONE about once a year, it's definitely a lot better than previous Elder Scrolls games were on console.

Mods are limited and a bit more vanilla, but add up to some decent extra content and world fillers, plus some silly stuff if you're into that. I would play vanilla to start with, then a run through with mods to spice it up.

I reckon I paid $60 for SE when it came out, and would have easily gotten 100+ hours out of it.

Yeah outside of the hardware upgrade required i'm finding now that I have less time (compared to when I was in uni gaming on pc) i'm much more likely to play a game if I can just plop down on the couch, hit a few buttons on the controller and i'm in and playing. It seems all my gaming in the last few years has been on console on the switch or xbone. I'll never rate FPS's on console as I can't aim quickly for the life of me without a mouse, but I haven't played them in years anyway. For $12 with the updated textures and all the dlc i picked one up - thanks OP.

Absolutely agree - as I have kids now, I am down to a few hours a week, maybe more if I don't have much else on, but I get much better value out of the XBOX than fiddling with a PC. I used to hate anything first person on console, but it sort of feels right for Skyrim - it shouldn't be that easy to get a precise hit using a bow and arrow.

If I didn't just have Far Cry arrive the other day I would probably start a fresh Skyrim game over Christmas.

          • @pdtmathieson: No Skyrim for me :( I got it sent to one of those pickup locations as I was going to be away on the estimated delivery date of 23/12, but then they delivered it early onctje 20th (still away) and are going to return it if I don't pick it up on 3/1 And I'm away until 5/1. Customer service was about as helpful as a brick through my window too - "parcels are only held for 10 days" - the fact they changed the delivery time and don't advertise this apparently irrelevant.

Moral to the story - don't order anything from Amazon if there is a remote chance you will be away because being the global store that they are they can't manage that.

One of the few games to span over multiple platform and its getting better/prettier.

    PS3
    XBOX 360
    PC
    PS4/PRO
    XBOX ONE/X
    SWITCH
…. and I have them all on all the platform except PC.

  • Thanks OP! I played on the 360, looking forward to revisiting this classic game on the ONE X

  • Been wanting to grab this on PS4 for ages! Hoping it goes on sale for Ps4 at this price some time soon!

  • Back to $24 now

  • Got a copy, cheers.

A lighting deal that been alive for 3 hrs not much interest till the Ozb boost :)

Ok I guess it's time to buy Skyrim for the 10th time

    • 10th time?
Is it the same game? You are doing repeated quests?
Or is it like the Mario games, where its different maps/puzzles on different platforms?

      • +2

10 is probably an exaggeration, but I do have a few copies - I had the original release PC, then got it on XBOX when my PC died, then got Special Edition. For a game I have spent so many hours on, no price would be too much.

  • bah missed it

  • never played this franchise, if i buy this would i be lost? or is this one of these games that ages well

    • I hadn't played the previous games before Skyrim either, but nah you won't be lost at all. As far as I'm aware there isn't too much continuity. The game has definitely aged well, in my opinion.
