Shipping items from the UK

Hi OZBargainers

Seasons Greetings. I'm keen to find out if anyone has used all shipping companies to send personal possessions from the UK back to Australia. I have a number of books, vinyl records, BluRay movies, CD's that I would like to bring back with me to OZ. I don't want to pack this in my suitcase for fear of items getting damaged and the expense of being overweight. I'm wanting any recommendations of companies that ship reliably and safely for a reasonable price. I'm not in any hurry to receive them, just need to ensure that they get from point A to point B and don't go missing / get stolen.

Appreciate all and advice provided.

Thanks

  • Royal Mail pretty reliable, that’s if the package doesn’t get handed to Aus Post or bad carriers like those, pretty affordable as well

    • Royal Mail has a partnership with Aus Post so it will 100% be handled by them when it reaches Australia

  • +1

BluRays I would just rip to a HDD.

Otherwise, typically I get family to send stuff over via regular Royal Mail. Usually, it is quicker and marginally cheaper UK—>AU than the other way. I haven't had a package go missing yet and my mother sent $200 in cash in and envelope once - that got here fine, surprisingly!
