I got Hilton Gold status this year through my Amex Explorer card - the AMEX site says that it is supposed to be a silver match but Hilton have me Gold. I stayed 3 nights at a Hilton property and the experience was awesome. I got upgraded to an $800/night room just for asking and also got $20/day meal credit.
I have no chance of staying 40 nights in a Hilton Hotels per year to maintain gold status, but plan to do some travelling next year and would like a similar deal (with Hilton or another chain). Does anyone have recommendations for how to status match before the year ends? Ie if I submit now, will I be able to get Gold with IHG or Marriot for 2020? Also, can I use this to get status upgrades with any Airlines?
