Security: Password Management Tool for My Mum - Don't Mind Paying a few $ a Year or Once off

Any advice on what password manager my mum can use (and I can support easily)

She is 60 something (will never allow me to disclose the real number!. more like 50 with a bit of Ozzie level taxes) and quite with the stuff… but the passwords as her many tools she uses for her business and personal digital life is growing, is getting too much… and every now and then she uses her email password to create a new account using that email as the sign-on… (Whoops!)

Any advice on an easy to use password manager.

She uses - Android phone (Xiaomi Mi5s), Google accounts and digital products, Windows10 PC, Ipad.

Thx

Lastpass and 1Password are pretty much known to be industry standard. I just use Firefox's built in and iPhone auto generates high security passwords though.

I also use lastpass, have never bought a subscription. Works great for me on android and and PC, only issue is if you use 2 factor authentication I have to re-do authentication every 30 days which is easy for me, but no idea about your mum.

I got my parent to also use Lastpass. We don't pay a single cent, the free Tier is enough.

    • this sounds great.Xmas present will be setting this all up!

Bitwarden! It's open source while staying completely simple to use, highly rated and free for normal use. Syncs across all devices. I came from msecure etc scam pricing where they make you pay every time they create a new version :(

    • Might have to check Bitwarden out. I'm still using mSecure 4 which I bought 8 years ago.

    • Yeah I switched to Bitwarden earlier this year after being a paying customer of LastPass for more than 10 years (and had enough of all the short-comings).

    • bitwarden is excellent

  • I use free Lastpass. Also read good things about Bitwarden.

  • I got the family sub of 1Password for my family as I was already using it. Absolutely recommended for people split between iOS,macOS,Windows and Google. It will give yo warnings if you have re-used passwords as well, so you can take action to change them.

I use Dashlane. I tried the free version and liked it enough to pay for a subscription.
The paid version will sync your passwords across all of your devices (PC, phone, iPad etc), and can also be accessed from any browser if you need to login on someone else’s machine.

I ended up using a whiteboard in their study. Much easier.

  • Lastpass, free version
Works fine, easy to setup and well reviewed

    Lastpass

Lastpass is all you'll ever need.

  • Bitwarden is my go to

  • Consider Keepass as it's opensource, compatible across multiple platforms and free. Perhaps avoid a cloud based product.
