  • How does the price compare to similar dealership offerings?

And that, my friend, is your answer.

  • As a comparison, my ex paid ~$18k for a new 2016 Cerato S Automatic with the upgraded middle screen in late 2016.

Looking at Carsales, there are plenty of Cerato S with <10k km for ~$17k so your price isn't amazing.

You can get brand new 2019 Cerato S for $19750 DA with 7rs wty, 7 rs capped servicing, etc. Is that worth another $5k to you?

In 2 weeks time anything you look at today will be a year older - good bargaining power there.

  • Sedan? Hatch? Condition?

What does carsguide.com.au say it's worth?

A little information may help as my crystal ball is broken.

    • Looks like this one (price and 3yrs free servicing)

Price is plus stamp duty, but that's only $540 or so.

An extra grand gets a 2018 model. That's probably the better buy

2018 got the option of Carplay/Android Auto, which I believe can be retro-fitted

      • Spot on, I think your suggested one is better value.
        Thanks!

        • Don't take my word on the AV pack/Carplay on that 2018, but it is a year newer :)

          As always, do your checks!

Wait, check here, these specifically state Carplay. Again, they start at $15,990 :)

That media unit looks a lot better than the shitty 2017 non-Carplay one. And you get a reverse camera!

          • @spackbace: Actually, I was going for $14k, but they are sticking with $15k DA down from $16k DA based on ad.

            • @Bimbilibilikili: I doubt there's much movement in these. There's so many on the market, that the cheapest is the cheapest for a reason.

Just spend the extra on that 2018 model with the AV pack. You'll be happy you did in the long run.

          • @spackbace: The carplay / reverse camera was a $300 option on the earlier ones. The bulk of the S model were ordered with it by the dealer. My ex's Cerato had it. The dealer included it at no cost.

    MY17

    So… is it built in 2016, or 2017? ;)

And you're sure it's MY17? Don't want you coming back in 3 years saying it isn't…

2016, MY17 hatch here for $12,990+. So your price doesn't seem amazing
    2018, MY18 here for $14,950 d/a

Oh, and that age/mileage will be ex-rental. Check the service book to make sure. Double check panel repairs

And if it is ex-rental, it won’t have the standard 7 year Kia warranty either…

      • True, 7yrs 150,000km from memory, not unlimited kms

    • It's built MY17.

    MY??

    *TRIGGERED*

Can’t wait for that thread in 3 years from now…

    OP not a direct comparison;

    In 2018 I bought a 2015 Kia Cerato hatch SLI for $16k.
    - 33k on it.
    - Full service history
    - Tow bar
    - mint condition
    - Had 4 years warranty left at the time.
    - Silver (I think this is the best colour).

I think the dealer is asking too much. Especially when the S is like $20k drive away brand new.

    • Tow bar

      For a bike rack?

      • Box trailer with all their cementing gear, bags of concrete and sand is my guess…

      • To take advantage of Bunnings free loan trailer.

      • +1

@MS Paint - I can only tow up to 1 tonne braked, but it has come in handy a few times.

It's not a deal breaker for me, but I'd rather have a car with it for the times you need to move things.

It's a KIA, a KIA, K…I…A… and you are considering paying 15k for a "used" KIA.
'17 is now 3 years old.

You have much more better options out there for far less than the 15K they are asking.

Forget about the so called warranty, or free window cleaning crap… where are you going to be in 5 years????
Paying off 15K on a piece of Sh$T.

    • That's some strong sentiments there.
      Any particular reason?
I thank you though for taking time to comment.
BTW, as I said I was bargaining for $14k.

    • Feel free to lay out these better options so we can either agree, or let you know how crazy your rambling are…

  • You can get a brand new 2019 model for 19k~

    • Which state are you buying in?
As I can't even get a demo for that here in Adelaide.
