Microsoft Windows 7 + Microsoft Office... cheapest way for a student to get them?

hi all, i've been looking around and i can't seem to find a cheap place to buy Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Office. well i really just need Windows 7 and Word. i'm a student, but i only know of the online deals which Microsoft sells Office for $100 and Windows for $140(plus postage). but then it still comes to $260 when you include postage.

is there anything else out there that i don't know about?

thanks

  • It cost $25 to get the card, but then Microsoft Office is only $61.82, and Windows 7 Pro Upgrade is $59.22.

  • See if your institution is part of msdnaa - this will get u free win7. Otherwise all students with .edu email can use dreamspark - this gets you a few different MS software incl. Win2008 server which can be setup almost like win7. As for office, students get it for $99 aud, but there are alternatives - libreoffice is great (and free/somewhat MS compatible). Older office versions are cheaper.

Microsoft has a Home Use Program for (some) corporate & government people. Absolute bargain if you can get it.
