Those Who Bought Lenovo ThinkPad E495 / E595

I hope you're enjoying your machine like I am. One of my best buys yet. I'm hoping someone out there has upgraded their RAM and have a spare 8gb stick they're not currently using. If so, is there any way we can match up buyers with sellers for these spare sticks? I don't want to buy a random stick from Amazon which will be of a different make than the (Samsung) one used by Lenovo.

Also what's a reasonable price? Obviously the $125 or so Lenovo wanted for the 8gb upgrade was unreasonable.

  • I have an E595.

I'm enjoying it apart from the Fn key being where the Ctrl key should be.

Sorry, I haven't looked into upgrading the RAM. 8GB is plenty for my usage.

    • The Fn key and control key drives me mad too, ive been looking to remap the print screen one to something else because i often hit it by accident.

8gb is nice i must admit but they're better run in dual channel, for performance reasons. So most ppl will find GPU performance is better with two sticks, so i'm keen to get that 2nd stick sorted out. I had ordered a Crucial one from amazon but cancelled the order because i dont want two different makes.

Go to Lenovo Vantage (should be preinstalled) and you can reverse the function of the keys so you have CTRL in the corner again.

You can switch the Fn and CTRL key in the BIOS

    • The Fn and Ctrl keys can be swapped in the bios.

Just a heads up - been having smashing success with the half a dozen we bought, you have to replace the god-awful realtek wifi chip with something like this

$18 Intel WiFi BT adapter. https://www.umart.com.au/Intel-Wireless-AC-9260_44154G.html

An additional 8GB is also a nice to have

    $55 8GB RAM. https://www.umart.com.au/Crucial-8GB-DDR4-2400-MT-s--PC4-192…

These also work well with the Lenovo docking stations.
