Lenovo Smart LED Lightstrip $39 + Delivery (Free C&C) @ JB Hi-Fi

90

LED strip that works with google assistant/Alexa.
2m in length strip with 60 LEDs.

Update: Had difficulty setting up with Lenovo's app platform. I suggest you using Tuya Smart App for set up with google home assistant.

  • Wonder how many lumens output it is

    • No information on the lenovo website about it. I was interested as well, and the fact it shows colour change on the jb website.

    What is the usual price?

For anyone interested Kmart now sells Mirabella Genio Smart LED lightstrip $39 for 3m and $55 for 5m, which comes out cheaper but it relies on Tuya Platform (or flash firmware). Lenovo uses its own platform.

    • How good is this? I can't find much info about it

      • Honestly I don't know, but I do know it's not individual addressable. However, the Lenovo LED strip is also not individual addressable, neither is Hue. Pretty sure LIFX one is though.

Pretty sure $39 is retail. They had a sign up for 20% off smart lighting when I grabbed it the other day but I had to haggle them to actually honour it.
Also…I cannot get them to sync with Google home. A quick internet search suggested that this is a bit of a known issue with Lenovo smart product. Using mine behind a monitor but pretty miffed about you t not being "smart". Too much effort to unstick from monitor and return. Be warned

    • Appreciate the warning.

I've been thinking about these for the pantry.

    • Had the same issue and then set it up with TuyaSmart App. Opened up google home and connected successfully.

C'mon guys go on Aliexpress these are like $10 for 100m which includes multi coloured with remote control. The prices at local retailers are so 5 yrs ago. Not sure voice activation is worth the extra… Finger action is underrated these days

Interested have you got a link?

        No, he doesn't.

  • This or LIFX?

      Not this

  • If I don't have a smart device household, are there advantages over just buying a cheap one on Amazon?

Mostly just want to backlight the TV.

    • If your not interested in anything being 'smart' stick with the dumb model. I have a smart one connected to my smart home. When the TV turns on, it turns on, and off when the TV is turned off.

      • Wouldn't a dumb one still do that? Plug the usb into TV and the light would power on and off in sync

        • Potentially if you got a USB version. Is there enough power in USB to do a large strip?

          • @jackwoz: Depends on how your USB ports are powered by the TV, this can not work as expected if the TV keeps powering the port when switched off.

    • If you want to use as backlight, go for a USB powered so that you can use the USB port on TV.
