Where Should I Mount 7” Android Tablet in My Hilux

I have a Toyota hilux 2009 model and a Lenovo 7” tablet that I’m thinking to mount in the dash.
Just wondering where the best place to mount it would be?
Here is a pic of the dash

  • Perhaps you can do with some light reading around the legalities in having visual display units in vehicles: http://classic.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/nsw/consol_reg/rr2014…

OP is doing the right thing by affixing it to the vehicle.

      (2) This rule does not apply to the driver if—
      (b) the visual display unit is used as a driver's aid and either—
      (i) is an integrated part of the vehicle design, or
(ii) is secured in a mounting affixed to the vehicle while being used, or

  • For what use?

    • Planning to use it for android auto and music
Essentially a cheap way to replace my head unit

        • Exactly :)

Remove the radio and install an aftermarket radio with a screen. Will be neater, look like it belongs and won’t border on being illegal. It won’t be 7”, but a double DIN screen would go close.

PS: the link to your dash picture is wrong/broken.

    • This. Or has the hilux dash got one of those stupid sticking-out-tablet-style units already?

    the problems I foresee you having are;
    1. no radio as the tab doenst have a tuner
    2. having to hotspot your phone to get any spotify/tunein/music apps working
    3. installing an amplifier to your current speakers and splitting a 3.5mm audio jack as the sound input
    4. the tab will most likely fail due to prolonged hot temperature use
    5. if you hard mount it, you will have to maintain a power source otherwise you wont be able to turn it on again
    6. terrible user experience due to the lack of brightness during daylight hours.
    7. possible legal issues once you start playing youtube and other videos while driving
