Gas, electricity and water providers

Hi all,

My partner and I are moving out in 3 weeks for the first time.

We were wondering being an apartment, do we need to source our own water service? Or will strata take care of this?

Also, any recommendations for Gas and electricity providers?

Info that may help.

Couple based in Sydney

New apartment with gas cooktop, electric oven, ducted aircon.

Thank you!

    Renting or owning?

There is only one water provider, Sydney Water. You may need to contact them to get bills in your name?

It should be detailed in your contract. There might also be a manual for the building.

New apartments gas cook tops might be part of the body corporate charges.

Some might have central hot water which you pay by the litre (about 1c per litre), it saves space / $ of having your own electric heather installed.

    Cold water is metered separately.

Electricity you will have to pay separately.

Make friends with your neighbours and ask them for advice is also a good idea. We actually have a whatsapp group with like 30 people in the same building so you find out things happening quite quickly.

  • Thanks guys. We are owning

    • Water should be taken care of during settlement. Your conveyancer/later will sort that out and the bills will just start coming to you when you need to pay for it.

  • Sorry remove comments. Thought you were renting somehow.

    Congrats and Happy New year!
