Received Malaysian AirPods 2 from Amazon AU, do I still have Apple warranty?

Hi all, first post to the forums so please forgive me for any mistakes.

I recently bought Airpods 2 for $199 as part of the Boxing Day sales on Amazon AU. As they're Malaysian stock, is my warranty still valid as I bought them from Amazon AU? And would I be able to purchase AppleCare even though it's not Australian stock?

You're most likely covered by the Apple 12 months worldwide warranty, but not the 24 months Australian terms.

Best check with Amazon & Apple.

  • When you say 'warranty', there are two types of warranty you may be referring to.

First, manufacturer warranties are sometimes offered by generous manufacturers. I don't know whether Apple will honour any manufacturer warranty that may be offered in Malaysia for that product given that the item is now in Australia. But given the below, it's not relevant.

Second, all goods sold in Australia are covered by your consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law. This means that if your product is defective, you can return it to the retailer from which you bought it (Amazon) for a repair or replacement if it's a major fault. Or a repair for a minor fault.

    • it's major fault: you decide (repair, replace, refund)
      minor fault: they decide

Mine from the Apple Store say the same too.

  • OP do you mind sharing the name of the store on Amazon you bought it from?

    • The store was AMAZHUB, first result when you search for AirPods
