CuriosityStream Documentary Streaming Service 2-Year 4K Unlimited Plan $24.00 USD (~ $34.10 AUD, Was $70 USD/Yr) @ StackSocial

This post contains affiliate links. OzBargain might earn commissions when you click through and make purchases. Please see this page for more information.

This excellent deal is back: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/452802 and is slightly cheaper as well. It's also better than the current 40% off HD (comparing to this which is the 4K plan) on the official site.

So CuriosityStream is a streaming service dedicated to documentaries. Instructions to redeem this is as the last deal:

  • Buy from StackSocial, use code 20SAVE20.
  • Proceed to the curiosity stream website. Press signup and pick the 4K streaming plan for $70/year and then enter your credit card information.
  • At the bottom of the credit card fields is another field for a promo code, paste in the code there and apply it. The site should update and say you have activated 2yrs subscription (weirdly enough it says you are still on Trial mode, it's just that the duration of the Trial is 2 years - that also means this won't work on existing account).
  • After successfully creating the account go into "My Account" and press to cancel your subscription, you will keep the subscription active until 2021 but you won't be charged when it expires this way.

Happy new year everyone.

Thx OP. For some reason I had a $20 credit with StackSocial. I only ever used them to buy a VPN service a few years ago. So I got a superb deal :)

No worries. Maybe you submitted your referral link to OzBargain and someone bought something using that link? It's $10 credit for both. Enjoy!

  • It does not say 4K on StackSocial website. How do I know if this offer is for 4K and not HD. Thanks.

Can confirm it works after following OP’s instructions.

      • Thanks for confirming.

      • At the time your order is placed, we will perform pre-authorization in an amount equal to one year of your annual subscription rate to validate your credit card.

        Was the pre-authorization refunded/cancelled immediately?

edit: Did it through Paypal instead. No pre-authorization required.

        • Looks like it— I’ve got 2 pending transactions for the pre-auth amount, one debiting and one crediting.

Nice work finding it popup again, I've been enjoying the service since I last posted and is a steal at that price.

I recommend giving this a watch

  • Looks good. How would you watch it on tv? Is there app on the tv? I have sony 4k tv.

    • You can cast via the smartphone app.

If your Sony TV is Android, you can see if the app works on it.

    • We have the app installed on Vodafone TV.

    • On my LG TV there is an app in the app store you can download for it.

Yes the content isn't amazing I'll be the first to admit, but at this price it's worth it. Certainly wouldn't pay out the regular price for it.

  • Thanks OP!

I don't remember ever using this site before, but apparently I signed up in 2013 and now had $30 credit so got this for free :)

I found the majority of content to be quite lacking in quality and not very detailed. Won’t be renewing mine. Found better docos on Amazon Prime Video (and their selection is not great either).

    • Thanks I was about to pull the trigger and with your feedback and adrianjt might give a miss.

      • You dodged a bullet there.

  • I wonder if this can be added to an existing plan expiring this year.

Never mind. Says new users only.

  • Can anyone confirm if the deal includes Nebula?

This FAQ seems to say otherwise:
    https://help.curiositystream.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034158…

    But then there's this:
    https://curiositystream.com/nebula/

    • The link on the 2nd page you posted auto-applies the coupon code "nebula", which would give you access. If I were to guess, I'd say that this deal doesn't qualify for Nebula

  • I signed up for a trial on this to watch with my son. Was pretty average an the content was pretty sparse I felt.

    Anyone wants to go half’s?

    • So I found this while Googling ..
" Though you are able to login through multiple devices, you could only stream using one device at a time. "

      still wanting to go halves?

      • +2

That’s ok. I don’t think I will be watching it everyday. I found someone who was happy with the arrangement so all good.

    • Anyone else keen to go halves ? :P

  • Anybody who wants to go halves, please PM me. Will probably buy this tonight
