  • BOOOOOOOOO! 42100 no longer listed on their website. Its the only set I want at the moment.

  • They've got one of the Chinese New year sets listed (80105). Not bad given it was only officially released yesterday and isn't widely stocked atm.

Not bad given it was only officially released yesterday

It was officially released on Boxing Day.

      • I'd read it was going to be on the Lego website at 10am boxing day and was refreshing my page all day but it only ended up hitting the site late at night and listed as 'coming soon'.

Do you know whether there were instore releases at Myers / DJs or the Lego shops on boxing day? Just curious what happened there.

        • Yes, because I bought them from DJs Elizabeth Street with the 20% off. The toy shop I bought my own sets from (the DJs ones were for someone else) said that LEGO put an embargo on them until Boxing Day, but according to the LEGO thread over on Whirlpool, Myer Miranda were selling them on Christmas Eve …

          • @kerfuffle: I almost snapped up a DJs 20% off one online on boxing day, but they sold out while I was checking out. Nabbed one the next day luckily, although was convinced at the time it was a website glitch and I wouldn't get it.

I think I saw on brickhawk they'd been listed on the DJs site a week prior to boxing day and sold out in 20 minutes… haha. The embargo was clearly well enforced.

They're cool looking sets, though! I still have the dragon dance to build and am looking forward to having them all set up together.

            @kerfuffle: I didn't know you're a LEGO fan!

            • +4

@ihbh: I love my LEGO! I’ve got all the Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts minifigures, the entire Chinese Spring Festival collection, a few Architecture pieces including the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney skyline one … Gonna scout Myer/DJs after work today to see if they have the Tokyo skyline on sale

              • +3

@kerfuffle: Not sure why you got negged for that, but just upvoted you. LEGO fan here too. :)

                • +1

@squarepants: Probably my haters negging every comment I make :)

                  • +1

@kerfuffle: Probably jealous you got staff discounts on Lego sets when you worked at DJs. It's the lot of some people in life, if they don't get the discounts, no one else should get them either.

      • I'm sure I saw these at the Legostore in Chaddy before Boxing day as I was in the store and tossing up whether to get the Wind Turbine and saw the CNY sets on the shelf. Never seen them before. Talk about tapping into the Asian market. Interesting set.

        • +1

Not sure if you're aware, but when the first wave(80101 and 80102) was released earlier this year(Jan 2019) there were massive lines outside the chaddy Lego store hours before the store was open as A LOT of people were after them, and people still missed out on them. Same with any Myer or DJ store that stocked them, I don't think they even made it onto the shelves which is why you probably never saw them. As soon as stock came into any store, there was a backlog of people who had put their name down for them.

    • Thanks bought another Chinese New year set to collect.

      • -4

Like Christmas seasonal sets, these CNY sets are likely to be available for 2-3 years.

        • Well I want to buy last year's year of the pig set and I can't find it… Nothing other than exorbitant prices on eBay

        • +2

Lol ok lets go on the history 1 and 2 virtually unavailable . 3 around for a year . 4 and 5 in play now my best guess would be to follow 3 if we are lucky/ unlucky depending on what people want :)
          No way 2-3 years .

          • @profar: 1 & 2 are exceptional and you know it. And unless you KNOW it, your guess is as good as mine.

            • @Nishi77: Yes but based on Lego wanting to crack the Chinese market they would want to keep these CNY sets flowing because of cause their ultimate goal is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ . Makes no sense with that for them to have some of these sets hanging around like a bad smell .

Oops nearly forgot to say the little clue in the set New Year .
Happens once a year so these sets should have new ones every year in that time frame :)

The technic 4x4 xtreme off roader is cheaper on amazon $219 backorder at the moment. https://www.amazon.com.au/LEGO-Technic-Off-Roader-42099-Buil…

    • No need to wait for long, mine will arrive next week :-)

  • If someone spots the Tokyo Architecture set, can they please report back?

  • +1

The base plate are worth getting. Not sure if cheapest, but always good to have if your playing Lego City.

how come the steamboat and beetle arent on sale?

    • +2

Steamboat's Ideas and the beetle is Creator Expert i believe.

  • I swear the Stranger Things set is never available online! Managed to pickup the Technics Land Rover Set, and using a Myer Gift card purchased during Amex spend $50 get $20 back it brought the total down to $210! Cheers OP!

    • I managed to get the Stranger Things set in store… they tried to argue it wasn't included but i won in the end lol

  • What do you do with it once it’s built?

    • +2

Keep it on display in my case

      • I did think that was the reason. To nice and too expensive to play with.

Does LEGO make stands and cases?

        • -1

I don't think so, but I'm sure you can get third-party stuff on eBay

      • Can you please post a photo of it?

        • I'm only building the Lion Dance one once I receive it; don't have space at the moment for the Temple Fair on display

I did take photos of both at the LEGO store in Broadway just now if you wanted those?

  • Can anyone recommend a good LEGO collection tracking iOS app?

I’m using the BrickSet.com website which does everything I want but a native app would be great. Brick by Brick and BrickSearch are the best I’ve found but lack a lot of functionality.

    • +1

Lego Life does this. If you have an account it tells you how many bricks you have too.

  • Not on the eBay store :(

  • can someone suggest a lego set for a 2 year old? Have to gift someone and have no idea. Thanks!

    • +6

      Duplo?

      • Yep. Our 3yo wants to do lego but just can't. Fine motor skills and patience just aren't at that level yet. So I tried to get her to find pieces using the instruction booklet, she's great at finding things ordinarily, but even that doesn't work much.

Duplo doesn't hold her interest much anymore. That might be our fault. It's a toy that requires parent input, and we got bored with it :p

    • Duplo is about all for that age bracket. We got the train sets for our daughter last Christmas and she really enjoys playing with them.

      https://www.myer.com.au/p/duplo-steam-train-10874-217953910-…

They also had a cargo train but I can't find it listed anymore. It was the better set too.

      • thank you!

        • You might want to get additional track packs to go with it as the included track is quite small. There's a bridge as well but I can't see it listed either. Hope this helps.

Good discount, nothing interesting to buy though

  • Has anyone built the Chiron. How well does it score in the fun department for seasoned brickheads??

    • +2

The build isn't that complex for experienced builders but I think its an uninspiring model. The Porsche GT3 42056 is a better set in my opinion.

      • Just started bag 2 of 42056 and wow what a build challenge.

      • I appreciate the honesty. I didn't buy 42056 and probably can't reconcile the deadstock premium it currently carries.

I'll save the $400 and keep on keeping with my modular expert creators. Also not difficult, but they look pretty on my modular shelving display :P

  • The discount should apply for all lego without any exclusions. The topic should have exclusions apply added to it.

  • Only decent priced set has gone 80105 .
Please say if anyone gets notice of shipment .

  • Looking for a bday gift for my 12 yo.. has anyone built/played with the Millennium Falcon 75257? Looks too big to actually play with?

  • anyone checked in store to see if they still have chines NY set in stock?

    That's an awesome price!!!!!

  • Even with the discount most of this stuff is still less on amazon au at the moment.

  • Anyone got confirmation on order processed for shipment yet?

    • Yes, mine has been shipped from local distribution centre

  • It’s worth visiting your local Myer as most if not all Lego (not on website) is on 30% plus some clearance items.

Scored an X-Wing Starfighter 75218 from $139 down to $88.19 at Blacktown NSW.

Was tempted to grab the new AT-ST Raider (75254) and the Tie Fighter (75211).

  • I also have a tracking # sent stating order ready for dispatch :)

  • Can anyone point to where the exclusions are listed on the website? All artwork and messaging I can find doesn't indicate any exclusions.

  • Not much left by now.
