[VIC, NSW] Aqua Systems 15L Backpack Garden Sprayer $40.98 @ Bunnings

120

Aqua Systems' backpack sprayer is currently half the price of other 15L sprayers, spotted in the latest Bunnings Catalogue. Verified in VIC and NSW, probably also on sale in other states as well.

While this is designed for weed-spraying, a backpack sprayer is a handy tool if you are defending your house from the bushfires this season:

  • Allows you to carry 15L of water with minimal strain, and it allows you put out small spot fires quickly, using only a tiny amount of water per spot fire.

  • 15L of water goes a hell of a long way when you are using this backpack

Stay safe, and follow the alerts.

bad reviews here too, all 3 stars or less

Excellent for keeping ravenous hordes of hungry screaming cats at bay, would recommend!

    YMMV;
I returned one of these because releasing the trigger resulted in a 'long' wait for the dribbling to stop. Hardly user friendly when spraying around plants that you don't want to die.
I spent $100 on a Silvan, well worth it.
Previous to that I used a $35 12 litre Hills one which lasted about five years (still useable but not great)

i'm receiving a vision of the future, in a nursing home somewhere…
      the future does look bleak

It's only 2 January, but this might go down as funniest comment of the year for 2020.

i've got some of these many moons ago when discounted to $19. the straps are crap and uncomfortable and now perished and snapped. the handle falls off easily and all the chrome rusts easily. i wouldn't recommend @ $40

    • +1

had mine for 3+ years now… none of those problems. agree that straps are not that comfortable but it's not like you wear it for hours on end as if you did I would invest in a better quality unit.

    • Agree, I so regret buying this crap as the straps don’t fit properly and super uncomfortable.

      • Have you tried any workarounds?
Reduce the weight, fill it to say 10 liters.
Would some synthetic foam help, sports section of kmart have $2 outdoor sit on cushions, thicker than exercise mats.

        • The main issue is that this spray comes with a pair of very flimsy plastic hooks that are supposed to hold the straps together at the top of the tank. However, these hooks cannot support a full tank properly and often come off at very unfortunate moments. One of the hooks is already broken after only 3 uses.

Does anyone know any good replacement for these hooks?

  • Don't laugh but …..

How good would this be to clean balcony windows in a unit? Not spotlessly clean but "good enough" along with a squeegee of course.

If so, are there better ones with more grunt?

Or would the stationary pump type be better?

seems extravagant unless your balcony is a venue for bird pooping competition.
get a hose joiner & 30m (or longer) garden hose if possible.
if not,a spray bottle and brush then splash with bucket of water afterwards.

or a pressure washer that you can use for other things

      • We are not allowed to use a hose during water restrictions.

    • +1

Think of it as a big spray bottle with a wand for reach. The pressure won't be effective for cleaning but it may be a useful tool to reach with chemicals.

    • A bit more expensive but may be an option for you

  • Cheap because it's crap. Same price as it has been forever and half the price of others for a reason.

  • +1

Been using one of these for a couple of years.
It's cheap & fit for my purpose.
Used once or twice a year spraying yard and house perimeter, requiring 2 to 3 refills.
Remainder of time it sits in the garden shed.
Very important to wash out thoroughly after use.

Suppose its similar to my cheap electric drill.
Sits in the box most of the time & used primarily to drill a couple of holes a year.
But I wouldn't go el'cheapo on the drill bits.

Now if I was purchasing a TV, I might ratchet up a notch or three on the spending scale, because it's where I may get some pleasure.

Fit for My Purpose is King.

it allows you put out small spot fires quickly, using only a tiny amount of water per spot fire.

This isn't an effective fire fighting tool and should not be marketed as such. Its a 15L spray bottle, no-one is putting out fires with a spray bottle.

However, this price it does represent decent value but don't expect the quality of Silvan, Swissmex and Solo (spares and rebuild kits available). I may grab one for my iron products I apply to my lawn. Iron generally does mix well with fertilisers and can cause terrible staining.

  • Brand is shit. No recommended.

  • Suggested ozbargain weed killer solution and place to buy? Roundup from Bunnings is mega expensive…

    • lol $29/L. got to pay for all the class action lawsuits :)

    • +1

Bunnings also sell the Hortico 1L concentrate for $9.90. Its the same as round-up - that's what I have been using for years.

    • Check out Natural/Organic weed spray, Non Glyphosate.
It may provide you future savings & benefits of a healthier lifestyle.
      imho.
