7200pm HDD list? (Gaming Related)

Having a weirdly tough time finding desktop HDDs with a 7200 write speed.

I use my external desktop HDDs just to play games from through steam (have a smaller internal SSD for my OS and assorted), however everytime I try to find a 4tb (or any other size really) I can never find their speed, anywhere.

Anyone know some dedicated (and cheapish) 7200rpm desktop HDDs?

Cheers, Happy New Year!

Edited: External Desktop HDD*

    Try a search like this

    eBay search

    • Or get WD Black / Seagate SSHD. They are on average quite a bit faster than your usual Desktop drives, and some NAS models too.

Yeah, +1 for the WD Black - I used a series of 6TB drives and they hit the spot for speed.

    • Yeah I tried it a while back but I'm only getting internal HDD's in my search, looking for an external Desktop HDD @ 7200

      Do they even exist?

Edited above to add: External* Desktop HDD

  • I just install the games to my SSD - they load so much quicker, and once I'm done, if I think I will play them again some time, I will do a steam backup to the 5400rpm drives.

I never had any trouble with 5400 drives back in the day, hell my steam games still run off one, though I will admit it does affect load times, my M.2 drive is where I manually install whatever I'm playing right now.

You should just buy an empty external HDD enclosure, buy the 7200 drive, then just install it in the enclosure. External HDD's are just internal ones in a box.
