Battle of The Brand Name Budget TV's

Hi all,

Just after some advice with the current, mainstream brands of budget TV. I am after a 65 inch unit.

Current picks are as follows and are all around the 1000 to 1200 mark depending on sales and markdowns.

Samsung ru7100
LG um7400
Sony x8000g

I tend to prefer a darker room to watch things in. I stream mostly (netflix and amazon prime) and watch minimal free to air (normally just the news).

Currently moving from an older Samsung, must be close to 10 years old.

Dont need any smarts as I prefer to use my chromecast ultra.

I did go into a couple stores but everything just looks super bright, with very vivid and unnatural colours. I can only assume demo modes try to attract the greatest number of people?

The other option would be to go a cheaper brand such as hisense in a 75inch. I sit about 2.5m from the screen which from my understanding, is borderline 65 to 75 inch?

    Also consider Hisense.

Likely no where near your price range.
From what I understand. Hisense ULED TVs use Quantom dot technology, same as Samsungs QLED. However is often $250-$500 less.
I have not owned a Hisense TV, however a lot of people on here seem to think highly of them.

I would personally try to squeeze your budget for a Hisense ULED @ 200hz, then a standard LG or Samsung @ 100hz.

I got the Sony X8000G 65 inch last October for $1170 delivered via the eGay GoodGuys deal and pretty happy with it.

I just prefer the whole look and feel of the Sony system and turned off other brands.

For a bit extra (approx. $1900 Boxing Day deal) think the Sony X95G probably hits the premium sweet spot and if I was more patient would have gone for that deal.
