How to Operate Sony TV with Vodafone TV Remote

I've had Vodafone TV for a few months and I'm quite happy with the little box. I recently had to reset the box (no big problem) and it has thrown off the ability to operate my TV (turn on/off and increase/decrease the volume). I can't remember how I set it up in the first place and I can't find any instructions online.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • I can't find any instructions online.

First search result in Google for me.

    Run the initial setup again.

    • Which result did you get - many seem to pertain to the NZ version which is different. Anyway, last time I factory reset the box and it didn't come up with the option to pair.

  • +1

you probably need to turn on HDMI CEC as that allows supported devices to control other devices

    • I've tried that (and it does sound familiar), but still no joy. The Voda remote still only operates the Voda box.

  • Old thread, but hoping to bump it in case anyone know an answer to the original question. Vodafone have nothing online (except Ireland and NZ which have different devices) and aren't taking calls for non-critical questions during COVID-19. There is no online enquiry facility, and no response to social media posts.

My Samsung remote died and it's a 10 year old ridiculously high-tech streaming touchscreen device, so replacement is near impossible. Trying to find any alternative to try

Not having even an email address let alone an online TV help guide or low-priority support is infuriating.

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated

    • You need to enable HDMI CEC on both the VTV and TV and also make sure that it's connected to a CEC supported HDMI port. Some TV's only allow it on a certain Port just like ARC.

If you can't get the VTV to work with the TV, you might want to try a Logitech Harmony remote (one of the entry level ones) or even a basic universal remote.

  • Thanks. The hdmi method hasn't worked ever, for a reason I'm not sure. 2010 Samsung tpp end 9000 series so uses their anynet standard. All settings and resets have been done on both devices.

The remote is programmable to use irda when it does initial setup, but short of factory resetting and losing everything there is no way to trigger this process, and no online guides for the product.

It seems this product is being abandoned by Vodafone.

A $12 remote from kmart does the trick fine, but it is irritating to need two remotes when one would do
