Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless Headset $279.20 (Was $349) in Store Only @ JB Hi-Fi (Part of 20% off Gaming Accessories)

100

First post so please be kind. Went to JB in DFO Homebush on boxing day and saw 20% off gaming accessories by certain brands. Corsair was included and it did not have the virtuoso excluded in the flyer. They would not honor it so I walked. Went to JB today in Bankstown and after the sales rep spoke with the manager, they decided to honor the 20% off from original price of $349 down to $279.20. As the product is new, there is no product page on the website and you will have to go in store. I did not get a photo of the ticket but I believe the 20% sale ends on the 09/01/2020.

As the discount was not applied automatically when scanned, they needed to add a comment as it is below cost price for them (according to the sales rep).

Please note this is not the SE version of the headset but the microphone is better on this version as per all the reviews on youtube. All the computer website places I have looked at only have the SE version for some reason all priced from $349.

  • Nice work :)

  • On Amazon for $287 minus 3.5% Shopback cashback ends up being $277.90ish (after taking out cashback not eligible on GST) although shipped from US but free expedited shipping (5-7 days).

Although this is local stock and not much difference in terms of price and easier with warranty claims but another slightly cheaper option

    • Honestly I don't know if JB Hi-fi is better for warranty. I purchased Phillips Hue white starter kit online from last month deal, one of the bulb DOA. Brought out to nearest JB Hi-fi store, they don't have any in stock for replacement and won't do online order for replacement, so my only recourse is refund. However, they did not refund the $5 postage to me. Amazon on the other hand, cover for refund postage.

      • JB has discounted egift cards readily available as well (eg Suncorp Benefits) vs Amazon's (typically) smaller discount on gift cards.

Very tempting as I've been looking for a good wireless headset to function both for Skype calls (working from home) as well as gaming. My current Plantronics Voyager Focus UC has been doing a great job but I plan to bring that back to the office.

On a side note, this is the best price I think it's been for Oz stock and IIRC is what they sell it for in their JB Friends and Family.

  • I can’t decide between these snd more expensive SteelSeries Arctis Wireless Pro.

Reviews of this say everything is awesome but the comfort. They start to hurt after an hour or two. I'd go with the Arctic Pro.

Odd, Ive worn these for over 2 hours before and never had an issue with comfort. I guess it's to do with head size etc…

I'm enjoying it so far. I have a big head (literally) and wear glasses, and am very happy these don't get impacted. That being said the ear cuffs whilst made from very comfy memory foam, do feel a bit hot on the head vs my Plantronics. They feel more closed-ear and also block out ambient sounds rather than relying on ANC.

My initial thoughts was it sounded very flat for music despite all the rave reviews but I found playing with the EQ improved significantly. Feels more enjoyable than my old Creative external DAC/amp + E-MU Walnut headphones pair which cost about the same.

I went with the wired version of the Arctic Pro without codac, which was only 179$ on Kogan. I was hesitant at first, but since JB sells em for like $320, I tempted fated, and it all worked out. I never saw them that cheap before, here or abroad. The Arctic Pro is the most comfortable headphones I've ever used. I can wear them for 6 hours straight and I feel no pressure on my neck, and my ears never gets warm, which is a bonus.

I was going to buy the Virtuoso, but all the reviews I watched claimed that everything was awesome except the comfort, that after an hour or two, they got a slight build up of pressure on their head and neck. And since I get headaches easily from wearing heavy headphones, it wasn't worth the risk for me. Comfort is everything.

I hope you all enjoy the Virtuoso :)

  • Edit: never mind

    • Looks like they took them off their website.

      • Yeh I can't find them at all? What happened?

  • Good mic, but holy hell, that price.

    Yeah.. ridiculously expensive.

Got the black pair from Broadway today. Like the Op it didn't scan as on sale but they were happy to do the 20% off since it wasn't excluded.

    • Net price $265.24 with Suncorp Benefits JB Hifi discounted egift cards which are available immediately (I literally bought it using the app as I was talking to the cashier)

  • It's so irritating. I work 20 mins from a JB. They open at 10am, shifts begin at 10:15 this week. And I finish at 7pm… So when you say the sale ends on the 9th, does that mean it includes the 9th? JB closes at 9pm on Thursday the 9th.

    • You also may need to budget some time to convince the staff members to do the 20% off after they check the exclusions/consult a manager to override/etc…

      • Woah dayum, true. Thanks man!

If it helps, show them the post on OzBargain, point to Op's receipt, and also point to the 20% off stickers everywhere which do list a bunch of exclusions but not the Virtuoso.

      • Woah dayum, true. Thanks man!

So an update: made it to the store in time and the clerk has gone to check with the manager after bringing this page up on the PC in the area. They are honouring the deal. Thanks again.
