Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter

This adapter retails for $75 on Apple AU store.
(Megabuy have this for $55, but after adding shipping, it becomes $70. Looking for more than a $5 discount.)

I would like to purchase the OEM Apple adapter, rather than a third-party one.

Do Apple original accessories go on discount on Apple store or major retailers ?

  • ~$16 for the generic one on eBay, why not just try it? It's just a basic cord, why the need to go genuine?

    • Because they don't work. I bought two different ones to try and they are very sketchy with sending a picture.

    • Apple can get very “tricky” with their cables. With an upgrade in IOS you can find lightning cables, that used to work, suddenly don’t. I had a power bank that came with a great three ended cable that doesn’t work with my iPhone anymore, after an IOS upgrade. These may well work the same.

    • Have looked through various generic ones on ebay/amazon.
Some of them are upfront with their advertising saying their product will not work with hulu/prime/netflix apps etc etc.
Some don't advertise as such, but then they dont work anyway, as is evident from plenty of such user reviews.
Also see two replies above !
Hence the need to buy the OEM one, but not at full RRP.

      • Yeah fair call, I saw the reviews on the fakes on Amazon were like 2.5/5

  • +1

So, here is how it happened.

After searching on internet, umart had them for cheapest, at $59, and available for pickup option, but not in stock.
Once they had them back in stock, went to Officeworks and asked for a price match.
Sure enough, they agreed, and picked up the adapter for $56.05, a big 25% off retail price ($75)!
Love an OzBargain story with a happy ending !
