Went into the Debenhams store, in Collins St, yesterday and they are clearing out the stock that is left. It closes on Sunday.
Examples were:
Maine Male Jeans - normally $60, now $10. Only size 30/32
Principles Female Jeans - normally $70 now $30.
Female black dress pants - normally $80 now $30.
There was a bunch of different clothes, bathers, shoes, bags, some cosmetics etc. Not massive amounts of stock but, certainly, worth a wander if you are in the city.
I think they were in the wrong place, for a start. Most people didn't even know where they were, or who they were. Got to admit I don't watch a lot of Commercial TV but I don't remember much advertising. The jeans, and pants, look reasonable quality, and good value at this price. Might be worth another visit before they shut down.
But also, they didn't have anything that made them stand out. Like all the makeup brands they had, you could just buy them over a block away at DJs and Myer. Same with clothing, women's fashion wise.
Debenhams the UK company went under, not the store in melb. Shame, I loved the mens clothing line, and decent pricing too
I don't think they have gone under completely but are closing a lot of stores. They are closing the one in my home town even tho they opened it only 1 year or so ago.
They have now been marked down to $7. The number of size 32 jeans they have is nothing short of silly.
