Dear All,
I need your advice! My iphone 7 plus front camera has stopped working(works intermittently with pink lines). It all started when the rear camera protective glass was damaged. The rear camera still works but the Portrait mode doesn't and with limited Zoom functionality. I took it to Apple Castle hill, NSW and they quoted some 500 bucks lol.
How much is ok to spend to replace both front and rear camera?

3 months
or
remainder of warranty on device being swapped

I had an iPhone replaced outside warranty (2.5years old) and was told by the staff at Apple that another 2 years starts at the time of replacement
That is 100% incorrect. It's 90 days or remaining term of your Apple warranty or AppleCare plan coverage, whichever is longer.

$500 from apple…..
Get the parts off eBay and do it yourself in 20 mins with a guide from iFixit. Super simple.
If you can handle a bit of handiwork, parts are cheap and there are pretty clear guides on how to do this. $20 is about right
Even in the worst case that you completely break it in half or something, $500 will get you a very good condition iphone 7 from an ebay shop (from experience these can be basically brand new phones)
I'm sure the cost quoted by Apple is not for a camera replacement but for the replacement of the whole phone. They give you a new (refurbished) one with 2 years warranty. As to the cost, the front camera is easy to replace. The rear broken glass is difficult to do. Maybe 100ish.
