Thanks, OP. Will go and get a slab. I really like Tsingtao Beer.

    • -6

Me too but hope it doesn't come with a slab of Corona šŸ¤” .. I hear Mexican and Chinese don't go well together

  • +1

    Yep - good beer

  • +1

    Whats the expiry like?

Also do you just need to scan the dan murphy card when buying?

    • +1

If you get instore, yes, you need to present the card, or you can click&collect

    • +3

they can look up your membership in store.

    • Mainstream lagers last a long time

      • +3

        Not in my house!

  • +2

    indeed a very good beer.

  • Gotta be Friday with all these alcohol deals.

  • +4

    Tsingtao

    Bless you.

    • -1

Say Tsingtao backwards 5 times fast

      • Did it.

  • Is this fully imported or brewed under licence in Australia?

    • +1

Fully imported by Ettason Pty Ltd (whoever they are) but reviews seem to indicate itā€™s not the full-beans Chinese version…

      • +11

full-beans Chinese version costs 50c per bottle in China … gotta love Australian alcohol prices

        • Yup ,Alcohol is insanely taxed

        • +1

Most beers in China are only 3% but have great flavour. Goes to prove you dont need high alcohol to have a good tasting beer

    • Brewed and bottled Tsingtao Brewery Company. Imported from China.

  • +12

In China, I would only drink Tsingtao beers brewed from Qingdao which are a bit more pricier than the equivalent brewed from another region. It's like comparing Japan brewed Asashi to the inferior locally brewed Asahi. The bottle says it is brewed in Qingdao so this is the original!

    • +1

they used to use the spring water from the near Mountain Lao, dont know whether it is the case.

      • Another point to make is that the Qingdao brewed (Gold label bottle) is 4.3% ABV while the non-Qingdao brewed is only 3.x ABV.

  • +4

Am I weird in that one of the first things I want to know about beer or any other alcoholic beverage is the ABV?

    • +2

      No. You're not alone

    • +1

if yo only want to get drunkļ¼Œso why care about what you drinkļ¼Ÿi care about abv before but abv means nothing i can drink 2 750ml wine without any problem one time

      • +37

Did you drink 2 750ml wine before writing that?

    • +9

Not at all. So many beers reducing ABV without a corresponding price reduction.

    • +6

Nope. I feel like ABV correlates with taste to an extent.

    • What is ABV?

  • Good price, bought mine before Christmas for $43 from woolworth plus 20% back in rewards point. Good beer to go with the chinese food for the incoming chinese new year.

  • -3

I trust this more than I trust water in China.

    • I'm sure it's made from Chinese "water"…

    • Well you cant drink the tap water in China so YES

  • Pearl River and Snow also very good if youā€™re starting your Chinese beer exploration.

In fact I much prefer them over Tsingtao.

  • +1

Anyome explored the Chinese craft beer scene?

    • +1

Yeah, the "baby jasmine tea lager", by Master Gao brewery, is pretty interesting. When I was living in China, this was one of my go to beers. The craft beer scene is still in its infancy in China, so not many breweries around. But the quality is actually pretty good and most of them are genuine micro breweries. None of these fancy takeovers by the big macros.

  • Thanks, payment for a trade coming tomorrow. Sorted.

  • +2

    So popular with AsiaOzBargain.com.au

  • I ferociously ordered two cases and picked them up before DM close today.

  • Can anyone comment on how this compares in taste to corona or asahi? Might get a slab to try

    • +2

      This is better imo

  • +8

A mate who lives in China tells me this.
    T.s.i.n.g.t.a.o
    This
    S**t
    Is
    No
    Good
    Try
    Another
    One.

    • I'm gonna use this next time

    • Love this one

    • I thought everything from China is good and cheap for oz bargainers.

  • +1

    https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_916901/oettinger-piā€¦

This not too bad either. 24x 500ml cans. $43.90

  • I've try this and find it pretty light imo. However it is not that bad.

  • Good beer, usually drink these when I go out for a dinner at a Chinese restaurant or when I'm over in China visiting my wife's relatives. Grabbed a couple of cases.

  • +1

2~3yrs ago my local Dan was selling the big bottle for $2 while the smaller one was almost $3… I cleared them out of the big. After a sauna or working outside on a hot day this beer rocks!

  • +2

How does it taste like ? Btw, I have had zero Alcohol before writing is comment

    • It's quite differenct kinda taste from mainstream beers in Aussie market.
You gonna try it to know if you like it.

Nothing to lose at this price anyway.

      • Yep, certainly different. It's brewed using Laoshan spring water with malted barley, rice and yeast. It's got a light, clean and distinguished taste.

  • +1

    Great drop! Yum seng!

  • I reckon it tastes like watered down beer

  • I don't trust Chinese food and I wouldn't trust Chinese beer probably made with sewerage water.

    Made in the PRC?
    No thanks.

Who would have thought that the promise of good beer could induce xenophobia.

  • If I was concerned about the carcinogenic properties of beer (which I'm not) it would be the alcohol (a proven carcinogenic) which would be the issue, not a tiny, trace amount of glyphosate.

    Gānbēi!

    • Bottom up!

  • I'm signed in but the only offer I see is 2 slabs for $80. From NSW. Any reason?

  • Looks like they have changed it to 2 for $80 for everyone. Still not a bad price but I only want one case. SA based.

    • do they change the conditions like this often? as in past promotions

    • Still $38.90 in VIC

  • They said it was till 15th jan only…and now 2 packs for 80

    • oh right thanks, i didnt see that part, just wondering for future where did it say 15th January only?

      • It didn't which is why I went to buy..only to be told that offer is over. Most of the staff wasn't aware.the lady at cash register told that it was valid till 15th jan

  • offer still available :)

  • +4

    • Took a while!!

    • ok, good to know that I'm not alone lol

    • Came here for the corona jokes but extremely disappointed thus far!!!

  • Is this better than XXXX?

  • +1

Have had this before and love it but bit weary of the provenance or region it comes from and date of brewing considering the health scare all around. Know will cop negs but just had to say it!

  • -1

Cant help it but is it discounted due to the virus whose name we shall not mention?

  • Come with Corona?

    • -1
