Help Me Decide The Best Multicooker

After a new multi-cooker / pressure cooker to make cooking easier whilst at uni. I know there is the crockpot express, the tefal multi cook and grain etc. Does any one have any recommendations? I am vegetarian so won't need to be cooking meat.

You may pick up a cheapie from Harris Scarf with their current closing down sales now on at some stores.

I was thinking of that but not sure if the warranty would be valid if anything went wrong and they closed down?

The warranty would be covered by the manufacturer/importer if you had any issues and the store had closed.

I love my Breville smart slow pro. It's on the pricier side but very easy to use, let's you set pressure by kPa and has a bunch of preset settings too if you need.

I kept having the lid issue with the Breville so I bought an Instant pot. There are bits I like about both but the instant pot also does Yoghurt.

    • I second this

we have a contempo, works fine :-)

  • are the kogan ones bad?

  • I have one you can no longer buy, New Wave brand which is great.

BUT if I was buying one now I would buy a Tefal Cook4me simply because it comes with pre-programmed recipes and more you can download. Just looks like fun!!

You got to get the INSTANT POT on amazon!!

I recommend the Tefal cook4me. We use one on our yatch mainly because our lifestyles leave us with zero energy for hard work cooking or waiting around. You want to do that after pulling ropes and swimming all day? No thanks.
Also its a PITA to fire up the oven or stovetop for two people. Less cleaning too. It's one non stick pot insert that we can clean easily with little water wastage(or two if you put the steamer insert on top for veg). It draws very little power which is surprising. Larger but lighter than expected.
Has a great range of functions. It does chicken wings in 6 minutes! Has a bunch of preprogrammed recipes and a handy app. The cookbook in the box is useless. Get the app. Hell get the app before purchasing to have a look through.

    • Where did you get the recipe for the chicken wings from? Does it come out watery? Lots of things I cook in my cook4me come out very watery but if I put less water it stops and says not enough water 😔

      • They had an Asian sticky wings recipe in the app..or maybe drumsticks. Either way I repurposed that using the same amount of honey no stock/water and a bunch of chilli and soy instead. As long as it's got half a cup of liquid it doesn't seem to spaz out and stop cooking. Last night threw raw pasta and a jar of pasta sauce with half cup of wine in for 15 on pressure cook and that turned out well cooked and not watery too.

        • I've also noticed if you set it to manual pressure cook instead of a recipe it's less picky about liquid levels

We have the Phillips one bought from Myer on Boxing Day. Previously had a cheaper Robson for over 2 years and never missed a bit.
Will be using the Phillips a lot I predict.

  • how does the philips go in terms of great tasting rice? my previous rice cooker had fuzzy logic and the rice was great

    • Sorry I dont use Multicooker for cooking rice. I did used the Robson to cook porridge and didn't like it.
We have one Cuckoo and one Tishi bbb a for that. Both works well

    • I have this one: https://www.philips.com.au/c-m-ho/cooking/all-in-one-cooker/… and to be honest I wouldn't recommend it for cooking rice - mine always turns out way too gummy or wet and doesn't fluff or separate nicely (despite fiddling with water amounts, etc, multiple times.)

It does do normal pressure cooking and slow cooking really well, but I ended up getting gifted a cheap Breville rice cooker I use for rice now (or just cook it on the stove) and it does the job way better.
