Charger Amps and Voltage

Hi all, i know it may sound silly, but i keep getting confused with chargers.

I am looking for a USB charging Hub that would be powerful enough to charge my IPad Pro 12.9 along with my other device.

My iPad is currently plugged on a charging Hub but its not charging fast enough. In fact when in use, the battery decreases.

Confused as to what to look for between amps, watts and whatever else.

  • Your Ipad Pro need one that are able to supply 5V @ 3A or 9V @ 2A (better option).

    • Thank you, how do i figure this out for myself in the future?
Might look up YouTube videos on electrical current lol

  • Would something like this work? It has a 3A USB?

  • +1

More Amps means more current is available, the device will take all it can use, you can’t over do it.
Volts are specific to the device, and you should make sure the voltage is in the specified range.
The power packs will list the voltage (input and output, but we only care about output in this case) and their maximum amps output .
Higher amps means faster charging, up to the limit of your device’s needs.

  • watts = amps x voltage

amps = watts divided by voltage

voltage = watts divided by amps
