Acer Predator XB271HU Glare / Reflection Terrible

Hi everyone, I am wondering if anyone can help me.

I purchased a Acer Predator XB271HU 27" monitor. I set it up and tried to use it. On using it I immediately noticed there was significant background glare / reflections from lighting around me. I was sitting in a room with only natural light from a window about 2 meters from me and an open door behind me.

I tried to play a game and it was unplayable because of the amount of glare on both sides of the screen (as my head was blocking some of the light source i guess?)

Is this normal for a panel with an anti-glare coating?

You can clearly see my outline of me taking a photo with my phone. This was only natural light in the room. I had no lights on.

…have you tried closing the door and window?

    • My old BenQ 27" monitor, in the exact same room, with the exact same lighting has none of the issues present. If you are suggesting I must only use my PC when in a completely dark room this is just not an option and not something that should be expected of anyone.

I'm more after if people think this may be an issue with the monitor, or if people have the same model monitor if they have the same reflection / glare.

        if you are suggesting

I never said make the room completely dark. I asked if you'd tried closing the door and window. You have a lot of glare because you have a large bright light source immediately behind you.

if they have the same reflection / glare.

I have this exact monitor. It is excellent. I do not have the same reflection / glare - but your issue is the environment you're using it in. There's nothing wrong with your monitor.

        • I don't have any light sources behind me. This is the problem.

That looks completely normal and standard. Don't want reflections? Don't have bright light sources directly behind you.

    • I don't have any light sources behind me.

as my head was blocking some of the light source i guess?

The light source that your head was blocking a part of.

Seriously - cut down on other light sources, turn up the brightness of your monitor.

        • As in, I could see the reflection of myself sitting in the monitor which was obviously darker than my surroundings as I was closer to the screen.

    Turn around

  • That does look normal…

Looks like you may need to invest in some curtains/blinds if you have none already.

  • Move the desk, i'd suggest next to the window on that wall there as per your MS paint drawing.
or invent it curtains/blinds and start closing them when your using the PC
