I delight in not giving Harvey Norman my business

I just laugh when I look at this example I went through today.

Want to buy a 2 to 3 grand laptop and looking for the best price.

Said laptop on sale at good guys, 15% off.

Go to Harvey Norman online chat to price beat, they are nearer.

Online says can’t match it, model is different due to it having a HDMI port which theirs doesn’t have.

I double check, exact same model number , good guys probably had a typo in the description. Go back to HN, guy insists can’t match but only a measly $200 off ( total discount at GG is 500).

Guess what! I reserve it at GG and buy it there !

I so miss giving HN my money….NOT!

Bet Harvey is losing a hell of a lot of sleep over this scathing review on a bargain hunting website forum.
    The shame!

Don’t even get me started on what Norman must be going through.

  • Harvey Norman can be very stingy on price matching. I've seen it first hand on many occasions.

  • To be honest… you could have just walked into a Harvey Norman store to have it matched..

Show/Confirm its the exact same model and they wouldnt refuse..
I get the whole "free delivery" perk of buying online, but its not worth the risk to have a guy from your local courier business to drop it on your doorstep with no care.

Just drive into the store, present the lower advertosed price and have them match it.. I bet you would be able to even negotiate on priceas well.. which would benefit you..

Its also part of their franchise agreement to honor (at minimum) their price guarantee..

Just be prepared with RRP of the laptop and an argument as to why the advertised price is not "significantly less than RRP"

For some odd reason I found myself in a Harvey norman store the other week.

As I was waking past the cameras I overheard the salesperson pitch the customer that the higher the mega pixel means a better quality camera. I pretty much turned on my heel and left and was reminded why I never visit Harvey
