Is there a “dumb phone” on the market that is just for calls and texts, no camera? Asking for a wayward teenager who has had his phone confiscated for inappropriate use, but I still want to be able to contact him.

Yeah we all have laser pointers lying around
I don't see the point in the ban. People will still be able to text and play games if they have a laptop or smart watch.
And no mirrors on shoes too
Get a keypad phone from your supermarket or auspost shop. These days even those come with a camera but a really crappy one not even worth taking photos. If the camera is an absolute NO just drive a nail through it and problem solved.
A better method to damage the camera would be to point the beam of a laser pointer directly into the camera.
