VicRoads and Roadworthy related question

I'm buying a car (currently unregistered) and was provided the RWC, but I mistakenly lost the bottom half of the certificate.
The bottom half is perforated and says "buyers copy".
The top, half which I have, has all the cars details and all the testers details.

I can't imagine why VicRoads would need the bottom half as well. But I haven't done a fresh registration in years so I'm not sure, and hoping I don't need to do the rwc again.

Anyone done a registration recently and remember if they take or need the bottom half? Would be a great help if you can help.

I know I can ask them, but they don't open till Monday and I'll need to work stuff out asap if I messed up by losing it.

Not sure about vic roads but usually the certificate number is most important (which they input into the system) and they can check from that.

I think you will be fine.

  • You'll have to do it again.

Thanks. I got in touch with a friend who's parent has been working in VicRoads for years. Says it will be okay as is.

Eases my mind until Monday at least.

Common sense says that the "Buyers Copy" is the bit you keep yourself (and doesn't need to be submitted to VicRoads). And if it's a "copy", that means it probably contains the same information as the top half anyway.
