Best Bang for Buck Acoustic Guitars (under $200)

Hi OzBargain team,
I'm in search for a budget acoustic guitar. I want to get back to playing after maybe some 10 years away from any instrument. Looking for the cheapest guitar I can find that is not offensively bad :)
Ideally not nylon, but willing if better than the rest of same-priced options. Also would prefer a body that's carved towards the higher frets.

Any tips super well appreciated!

Thanks

  • cash converters has some basic ones for $99, its obviously basic, i bought it with the same theory, but it has set there getting dust..

Gumtree. Suggest you start on nylon strings.

Second hand is the only way you'll find something half decent at that price. Garage sales or gumtree, and look up the brands before you buy them if you aren't familiar with what's somewhat decent and what's trash.

    Search "cutaway"

  • You will have more options with steel strings. The budget nylon strings will have very high action. The cutaway is going to add $$$. You should find plenty on Gumtree. Yamaha, epiphone

  • Get the one that matches your user name.

  • Yamaha FG700S second hand should be around $200ish if you can find one. Yamaha FG series are great value for money.

  • Where are you, we will find you a guitar

  • In addition to Yamaha, also take a look at Takamine. You would definitely have to go second hand with that budget though, probably need to invest a bit more too.

No point buying a brand new $200 guitar, it's going to be utter junk.
