Oppo Reno Z - How to Reduce Price Further

I am planning to buy Oppo Reno Z and its price is pretty similar at all the big stores (JB Hifi, Good Guys, Binglee etc) at around 449 and after 5% cashback on gift card, getting it at around 426. Is there any other way to reduce the price ? Any promotional offer / dicsount code ?

  • Oral negotiation. Which store?

  • Pricebeat Mobileciti at Officeworks to bring it down to $422.75

      This worked . Thanks. :)

  • By not buying it. Oppo phones are (fropanity) garbage.

ColorOS is an insult to Android

      • It probably still hasn't had an update since 2014. Please don't tell me they are still on ColorOS 3. The software and firmware glitches were appalling. There were menu features that went no where. Settings that could not be turned on or off. I had 2 of them, and they both went back within 4 weeks.

When I went looking for help, the Official Oppo forum was over run with spam bots and with threads that were 2 years old mentioned bugs that were still in the current version of the OS. And the XDA forum was devoid of any info because Oppo had locked down the firmware and hardware so much that they couldn't get bootloader access to install ASOP to at least bypass ColorOS. And at the time, on XDA they were talking about how Oppo basically ignored the open source nature of Android and locked it down.

The thing that I cant work out is that OnePlus is owned by Oppo, and OnePlus phones are miles ahead in terms of user experience. Oppo need to take a leaf out of OxygenOS and get that to make ColorOS to actually function.

And to the peanut who negged me, be my guest, doesn't change the fact that Oppo are a decent phone let down by utterly incompetent operating system and a company that doesn't give a shit about updating their software.

        • So you have a fiat and owned an oppo phone? Wow, just wow 😁

@Muzeeb: I own a Fiat, but couldn't put up with an Oppo phone. That shows you just how bad these phones are when I would rather keep an expensive shitbox like my Fiat, but not an Oppo phone.

        • I haven't personally owned an Oppo, although considering it. My brother however does have one and is on ColorOS 6. He's happy with it and hasn't had any problems. Supposedly they have fixed it quite a bit and with ColorOS 7 coming out soon it'll probably get better.

I've heard it was pretty garbage beforehand though, but kinda weird you'd just assume they're on ColorOS 3 still and haven't updated once in 6 years?

    • I have the Oppo Reno Z, I have found it to be excellent. However, my needs from a phone are very simple.

Don’t get me wrong, the phones from a hardware perspective are nice. Build quality is pretty good and with some nice specs, but that operating system, good lord, it’s terrible.

I wouldn’t have cared if I could have installed an alternate ROM, but it was locked down and they just don’t seem to have an interest in fixing software issues.

If people want an Oppo phone, I just say, get a OnePlus. Same company, same quality of specs and build quality, but a much more active teams when it comes to updates and a much nicer user interface.

  • Come back here again after 2 years

  • Is this the same Reno Z that's $360 at Optus?

    • Yes, but it's only $360 at Optus when you bundle it with a 12 month plan.

      • Get your phone with one of our new Packaged SIM plans or mix & match a range of features to make a plan that’s right for you. Plus, you can pay it off interest free over 12, 24 or 36 months, or buy it outright.

Is what it says on the page with all the mobiles.

        • Yes, you can pay for it outright but you still need to get it with at least 12 months plan.

Pretty sure all Optus plans are month to month now.
