From Apple to Android- Migration Support

My wife is upgrading from an iPhone to Android, and I'm hoping users in the community who have experienced this can help with a few things.

Her iPhone is 3-4 years old. Migrating chat apps (LINE, WeChat) and a few other apps tied to the icloud account are the main hurdles.

Has anyone used migration apps, or any other programs to get over this?

I have read a few other forum posts and websites, some quite old, but was wondering if there is anything more recent you can recommend.

Thanks!

  • What android is she moving to?

    • redmi note 8 pro, so i think either android 9 or 10

  • Backup the logs to the apps. Then register the apps on Android.

    • Thank you, found some similar instructions, and using an app. Problem is LINE is registered to the icloud account, and we may end up contacting LINE to change from icloud to gmail.

  • Oh I can help with LINE since it's a PRICK of a thing and I did it last year, I'll post when I get home if someone isn't already helping.

Warning: it's a Paid Program I used after a lot of research.

    • Did you use it for for more than just LINE? Whats the name of the app?

  • sync all photos and contacts with google and then they will appear on the android using google photos and contacts

    • Thanks RaytripleJ. Got the google photos and contacts. Its all those stubborn, delicate apps (usually chat apps) that are the focus. Theyre the ones used most.

  • I'm no expert but had been using Wechat on Android, ipad and PC. I move around and back-up on all these devices no problem. Just need to select all chats, then transfer to the device/PC.

    • Thanks Pumpkin, yes we will do a backup to the device and transfer. Worried about losing it all. I think wechat will be much easier to transfer than LINE.

  • Thank to everyone who sent me a message here.
My wife has successfully upgraded from an iphone SE to Redmi Note 8 Pro.

We installed LINE on her macbook, logged in, and this saved all the chats. There was no loss when installing it and copying everything over onto the new android phone, except the chats, which we have stored on her macbook if she ever needs it.

After nearly a week she is blown away by the upgrade. 3x the battery, better camera, and the MIUI android version is a clone of iOS, so its very easy to make the change.

Didnt need any software, and any fears that we would lose anything was greatly overblown. I hope this thread can help others in the future who have the same worries about the transition.
