Buying help please - Weber Accessories (Unbranded vs branded)

Hi OzBargainers,

I received a weber BBQ (Q2200) for my birthday and I am looking and getting some accessories. I know the cart is hard because it's pretty specific to the weber dimension; but what did you think about covers?

I found on ebay there was some unbranded covers for $20 (one third of weber's price) - is it worth spending the premium on the weber brand as you get what you pay, or should I cheap out?

Thanks in advance for your help!

For the covers, I find it depends on where you are storing the BBQ. The $20 cover should be ok if stored under a veranda or similar. If you do that, just monitor it and then decide if to replace with another $20 or with a branded cover.

Having said that, the branded covers are really good quality, fit well (obviously), and have velcro fasteners to ensure a good fit in all weather.

As overpriced as OEM accessories often are, I'll generally buy them as the extra money you've paid is soon forgotten and you have something that is fit for purpose and, hopefully, is of good quality.

I went back and forth for ages on OEM rubber mats in my Subaru. I'm glad I did because they fit perfectly and I couldn't even tell you what the difference was that I paid.

  • Thanks for the advice guys!

  • CAMPAQUIP are a good brand if you want a griddle plate replacement. Can pick them up from BBQs Galore.

  • If you plan to leave the bbq outdoors (rain/sun), the Weber branded cover is worth it.
