[VIC] Ozito Power X Change Pole Hedge Trimmer Kit $79 @ Bunnings Broadmeadows

140

Just checking because it's been on sale at everywhere expect my local and found exactly what I wanted! Better than half price.

The kit includes 2ah battery and eco charger. Bunnings has the skin-only kit listed at $164.

There were at least 6 stacked up when I grabbed mine. Great value for the kit.

  • I can't choose 2 pictures? I've got the receipt pic but I'll put up the sale sign. In which the manager gets the wrong rrp price

    • I bought mine from the Mill Park one for $50 abt 3 weeks ago so it might be a store specific markdown.

      • Store specific is always marked "Clearance" on the tag. Should be yellow. This one is store specific.

  • Any chance of cutting 5mm branches with these or would I have to get a pruner for that?

    • I got an Aldi Hedger / Pole pruner this week for $69. It says hedging up to 14mm diameter.

      • grrrr! i paid $79 for the aldi one a couple of weeks ago! great value. if you don't have a sharpener, replacement 8" 33DL chains on aliexpress for around US$4.50 each

        • Ah nice, cheers. What's DDL? Size ?

@tunzafun001: drive links, links in chain (or you can count the inside teeth).

            • @c64: Ahh, nice. Good to know. Ali express chains last? Ive tried sharpening in the past giving a huge improvement, but didn't compare to a new chain. Never adjusted the guide depth though, got a depth gauge on the way (may help).

              • @tunzafun001: each time you sharpen the cutter the cutting depth is going to decrease ever so slightly since the profile of the cutter is sloped downwards. i don't think it will matter much for 1 or 2 light sharpens but i think you need to do it eventually. i bought a cheap gauge + file off aliexpress.

i have no idea what the cheapo chains on aliexpress are like. i'm guessing they are fine unless you are a lumberjack :) i ordered a couple of extra ones for the pole saw but they haven't arrived yet.

The specification and manual says maximum of 12 mm.

Just checked the box as I was suspicious it was not the lot inside, but the 2ah battery and eco charger were there. Happy days

Then it's probably this one that you bought as opposed to the PXCPHTS-018 linked in your post

      • I don't get it. Aren't they the same hedge trimmer? Only the regular price is double the promotional price and it's only the skin??

        • +1

Yes the only difference is the added battery and charger. The battery and charger kits were promotional products so no longer listed on the Bunnings website, and probably not available in all stores.

  • If only the ryobi 18v skin was this price.

    • To be honest, if I was going to get into an ecosystem now I'd probably go Ryobi instead. But committed now.

  • I have both low hedges and high hedges. It seems silly to buy 2 hedge trimmers.
    What would be better:
    a) using a normal hedge trimmer on a ladder to reach the high hedges
    or
    b) using a pole hedge trimmer while standing far away to cut the low hedges

    • If you have a fair bit to do,you need both.

But.. I can say the ALDI one allows you to lock on the running motor (dangerous yes, but it does it). That allows you to come right down to the end and use it like a short trimer (as long as you have room for the handle behind you).

    • Both.

Short one saves your back. This big one is very unwieldy and top heavy for ground level bushes. It really can't be done it's so top heavy there's no fine control and your hedge will look crap.
Long one saves you falling from a ladder.

I have both AND a massive ladder. But that's due to the trees I have.

If you mean less than ~2.5m high though, you don't need the ladder. Just reach up.

  • Naww bugger all I need is the power head.

    Skin only unfortunately.

    • Wasn't skin only. 2ah battery and eco charger included.

  • Anyone tried the Kogan 5.7m pole saw (petrol)? Currently working up forearms to hold it.

That being said these 2.7m battery operated units are amazingly light for what they are.
