Gladstone, Moreton Island, Mooloolaba as Cruise Destinations

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the above as cruise destinations?
I'm planning to take the kids and only really interested in stopping there if they have some decent snorkelling or similar activities, but ideally not ones you have to pay for organised tours. Eg on South Pacific islands you can pretty much just hop off and explore and snorkel.

Would these be barrier reef type places?

Last one we went on stopped at Philip Island and boy was that disappointing!

Any thoughts much appreciated

Moreton island has some ok snorkeling and beaches. Its literally a short boat ride from Brisbane. Search Tangalooma wreck which is orbably where they will take you to snorkel

Mooloolaba is lovely but not a barrier reef type place, no snorkelling there AFAIK.

OMG Gladstone, don’t go there it’s port is industrial and the place is boring

    • Haha thanks. That was what I was wondering…

  • if you like coal, alumina and XXXX, Gladstone is the destination you are seeking

  • Wonder why in the world P&o would go there?
Although I did wonder the same with Philip island. No penguins by the time you get off the boat and there sure isn’t anything else going on there
