How to Get Rid of Soap Scum/Hard Water Stains?!

Ok, feels like I tried every damn thing here.

How to get those shower screens sparking?

Tried:

  • Gumption & scrubbing
  • Vinegar & scrubbing
  • Sodium Hypochloride (pool chlorine, 10%) & scrubbing
  • Bar Keeper's Friend powder & scrubbing
  • Palmolive Ultra & scrubbing
  • Magic sponge

This is insane; all the YouTube vids are a scam! šŸ¤¬

How to clean these suckers!!!

Even with chemicals, you're going to need to scrub. So anything making that easier is a good thing. I have a brush that attaches to my cordless drill - works wonders.

  • I use soap and a very fine grit sandpaper. Then just regular glass cleaner

I found this cheap multi purpose cleaner from Aldi does an amazing job removing soap scum/water marks: https://www.aldi.com.au/en/groceries/laundry-household/houseā€¦

  • OP has JC Denton as his profile pic. Op is a good person.

  • Grab a spray bottle and fill with 50/50 vinegar and water. Add a squirt of dishwashing liquid. Shake then spray on glass and scrub with green scourer. It will take some elbow grease but always works for me.

  • The Magic eraser should work.

However you can use some super fine 3000 + (I would go 5000) grit sandpaper if you are totally screwed. It will always work but it will probably leave some super fine scratches behind.

Works on cars so can't see why it wouldn't work on a shower

  • Have you tried the sharp edge paint scraper + 1500 grit sand paper combo? Unconventional, yes; highly effective, fukc yes!

  • Hammer and pinch bar works a treat

  • Don't be a pig, wash off the soap scum when it hits the glass, then it doesn't need cleaning.

  • Jif cream works great. But to avoid all the build up you have to clean once a week or fortnight.
Try avoiding chemicals as it leaves toxic fumes even after you wash it so it's no good for kids as well as us in a longer run.
Been professionally cleaning houses for almost 5 years now and used jif as well as other products. Jif is the best.
    Never tried steam cleaner though.

  • Any spray from coles that claims to remove soap scum and grime, scrub with newspaper.

  • Hesitate to mention it, because it didn't actually work for me. I have probably a 40 year old shower screen - and apparently no one ever cleaned it ever - so I can't move the scum!

But 1 cup of warmed vinegar + 1 cup of Fairy dish washing liquid in a spray bottle - spray - let it sit for a while (like maybe an hour) - wipe it down with a microfibre cloth - rinse - enjoy a lot of bubbles - hopefully clean shower screen. I think it would work for less far gone cases than mine.

Should add: Apparently it must be Fairy!
