7.5hr HK Stopover - Lounge Pass?

Well originally I had planned to explore HK with my partner and get dinner but between the protests and coronavirus it no longer seems worth it.

530pm - 1am

How do I go about getting a lounge pass for somewhere in HK Airport, any recommendations?

Cheers, TIA!

  • There is so much good food in Hong Kong. With how easy it is to get around using the train, I would get the train to central, and start from there. If you have a bit of a plan of places to go, it'll be worthwhile. Protests aren't really much of a thing, unless you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, but there's websites you can check to monitor the situation.

Flyertalk might be a better forum to search for the lounge questions.

    • Thanks, my partner is pretty set on not leaving amd it is before a month trip to Japan that is fairly me focused so would ratger just go by them.

    • Don't go around in the city with Coronvirus and protest every where.

A friend of mine recently booked plaza premium first and enjoyed it. She said there was no one there, whereas the plaza premium had a queue out the door. I think she was there for 3 hours.

  • I really liked the priority pass lounge in HK (Plaza premium)

Has plenty of seats, plenty of charging ports, and more private areas for groups as well. The free food was also pretty decent

  • From memory the paid lounges in HK have a 2-3 hour max stay time, not sure how well this is enforced but be aware there are prescribed maximum stay times.

check which lounges have pay at the door here: https://www.sleepinginairports.net/guides/hong-kong-airport-…

    • This looks like it will be the go

      • Just note that when using Dragonpass at some Hong Kong lounges they will not give you shower access without additional charge.Got caught in July when they wanted $200HKD for a shower!

        • Thanks for the heads up, I think we will pass on the shower. I believe all Plaza Premium list the lounge as showers charged.

          • @mezje: That is a shame because one of the good things about lounge access is the shower and change of clothes. Might not be so crucial to Japan but very welcome travelling to Europe.

  • If you are flying on Qantas, their lounge is pretty decent there. They had great char siew and nice cocktails when I was last there

Update: We are in the Hong Kong Airlines lounge. The staff member did not care the fact the boarding pass was Virgin issued

$60aud each, very quiet and quite impressed, on par with AMEX lounge in melb and syd for sure.

    Thanks all for the help.

    • Well the virus is seeing to that. How is the hong kong airport? is there alot of people, well sanitised? Also have a flight on valentines that transits there for 2 hours and weighing up changing my route to go via singapore instead (to get to Tokyo). Is it overblown? Things much more in order at HK airport? or largely desserted?

      • At the time when we went everyone was in masks, hand sanitiser was dotted around but not in abundance.

Literally every TV we saw had stuff about the virus playing. We just stayed away from people and used our own sanitiser after touching anything.

HK has for a few days now barred anyone from the mainland entering so it should be safer too.

    • I can only hope for you that it is better than the Melbourne Amex lounge
