Any good deals on any android auto compatible head units

Hey guys was looking to buy a new head unit for my 2009 Corolla. Has anyone seen any good deals? Don't want to buy a super crappy no name unit but I'm open to anything that has android auto and is not too sluggish have a budget of $500 but would like to spend less.

  • Have been using a $200 android 8.0 touchscreen unit off aliexpress for 2 years now and tbh has blown me away in terms of responsiveness, features and screen quality. As much as i didn't want to go down the path it was a no brainer as something with similar quality was closer to $600 here.

    • Have you got a link?

Given it was 2 years ago no, but the safe option is any joying branded device found here https://www.joyingauto.com/

        • thanks man I'll look into it

Sony XAV-AX3000 scrapes under $500 in most cases (e.g. https://frankiesautoelectrics.com.au/sony-xav-ax3000-6-95-ap…). Similar to the more expensive XAV-AX5000 but you get a resistive touch screen instead of a capacitive one and you lose the second USB port.

Otherwise the venerable Sony XAV-AX200 would fit the bill… but it seems to have been discontinued.

If you're patient, you can get a good price from Ryda/No Frills on eBay if/when a 20% selected sellers code for them rolls around (that's how I outfitted my entire car).

By the way if you are serious about sound quality, don't get a no-name brand - I had a EONON for a short while that frankly sounded terrible (poor soundstage, so any songs with lots of instruments devolved into a wall of noise). Features-wise these units are pretty good, but I would only get them if you're not planning to upgrade your speakers/amp from stock.

    • I have a Joying branded android unit and I would tend to agree

Initially I had the amp connected to the RCA out on the Joying, and the buzzing from the engine noise was terrible. I ended up changing to run from the speaker output, into a high/low level convertor then into the amp, which got rid of the noise but likely lowered the SQ and added complexity. I've never had this problem with brand name units

  • Thanks for the help everyone. Think I'll wait for an ebay sale on a Sony unit :)

  • I know this is a little of topic but whats the difference between an Android Auto head unit and an android head unit. Can the latter do android Auto?

  • I'm also looking for an android auto head unit. Spewing I missed the $300 sale!

    • I got really lucky my SCA had 1 left

      • Which one and at what price? Did you get it during the sale?

        • 345 can't remember the model it was JVC branded though

  • Supercheap have 30% off $200+ spend. Just picked up a JVC KWM750BT android auto/apple carplay unit for only $294! Possibly the cheapest AA/aC head unit on OzB apart from that limited Toyota offer!

Jump in quick, as offer ends tonight at midnight! Don't forget your wiring harnesses!
