Lordgun.com.au - anyone bought from them? How did the total price work?

Thinking of ordering from lordgun. It looks like their checkout calculator is broken. So instead

Assuming the item is $400, then shipping increases it to $410. But do I need to pay GST to clear customs on top?

Thanks

Unless the order is over $1000, that is when you would be required to pay GST at customs, unless you can prove that you paid GST to the retailer.

I have imported a few cheap things (up to $500) from small overseas sellers that are not registered for GST and have never had to pay GST at customs on these items. Your mileage may vary though.

Have a read about GST on imports from the ATO website

  • Looks to be a UK company, based on them listing their VAT number on the site ;)

  • Thanks for the comments. I think the .au website confused me (along with their lack of maths). I would assume if you are going to put together an AU website with an AU GST calculator, you might also register for GST too.

  • If anyone is checking this thread in a few months time, here is a quick review.

The website is very strange, but you will get a receipt showing the correct amount for shipping and a much smaller amount for the goods. My gear came to $344 delivered (it was $341, but in the time it took to google, the exchange rate dropped). So the $60 was shown as shipping and the item dropped to $284. The website shows $314 without shipping.

Shipping was slower than I thought. Ordered 10pm Sunday, delivered the following Monday (6 business days). I chose UPS which didnt meet their 2-3 day delivery time. But I think it might be a safer bet as the stuff flew via the US instead of Asia. Who knows, when it switches to Fedex, it will probably route the same.

Zero cashback or coupons can be found.

For anyone interested, Gerry Harvey will cry if you use these guys ;-) I'm happy it cleared customs the same day as it landed.

    I would recommend them.
