Steve Jobs Steps Down as CEO of Apple

Steve Jobs resign as CEO of Apple, wonder how this will affect future development of iProducts :O

The Resignation letter:
To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple”s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple”s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve

      iQuit

That was the best quote of the day I saw.

  • One wonders why he didn't wait for Iphone 5 release that is only like couple of months away.

    • Because if iPhone5 sucked then Job is responsible. If he step down now Cook is the one who has to clean up the mess!

      Just kidding ;)
Here is Gizmodo's analysis which I agree that Job chose a good time to resign!

Thanks for the Gizmodo link. I think it makes very good sense. Leave when you know you have a winner coming out, and then everyone accepts that Jobs is not essential to Apple's success.

He has an ego, but he also has a large number of Apple shares. I know its not fashionable, to think this way, but Jobs isn't into controlling the world as much as many think he is. He just has a vision, and that stems from a very simple one.

He always wanted technology to be as easy to use as a Toaster, he sprouted that belief ever since the 128K Mac.

And the only way you can do that is to make sure that you can only put toast in the Toaster. Hence the strict requirements to develop interfaces that are consistent.

Sorry to see him go, but Apple does need to stand on its own rather than be his creation any longer.
