Where to Buy Microsoft Surface and Which One to Buy?

Hey guys i'm wondering where the best and cheapest place to buy a microsoft surface laptop is. Currently JB has a deal https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/microsoft-surface-pro-7-i…. Is this overpriced? If so where you recommend I look to buy a surface.

I'm also unsure about which model is the best for value, I will be using it mainly for uni

  • Also looking at other options, would this be a good deal? https://www.centrecom.com.au/asus-um433da-a5016t-14-fhd-ryze…

  • As someone who uses a surface for my work daily…. i think the best answer I can give is nowhere and none.

Granted mine is getting a few years old now (i5) but it is buggy as (and has been for as long as I can remember). Gets hot, random freezing, graphics issues / part of the screen locks up, regularly have to lock it then unlock it again to get full responsiveness back, and wifi issues when my standard laptop has none in the same places.

I love the concept when it works… but wouldn't be happy to put my money into one unless they have ironed out the issues with the latest ones ?

    • On the flipside I'm on my second surface. I had a pro 4 model and upgraded to the latest (unless a new one has been released) last year and gave the old to my wife.

I have not had a single issue, it comes with me to all client visits (IT / sysadmin) and I'm yet to have a complaint aside from the touchpad being shit.

  • I'm currently looking for a new laptop workstation for my dev and design work, this is the best price I've come across for the i7 so far: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/microsoft-surface-pro-7-i7-16gb…

    • workstation

      dev and design work

      Yeah .. Don't get a surface.
If you have to move around every hour and need something slightly bigger, more powerful and than a tablet for web browsing/word processing then Surface is the laptop to get.

  • Pros:

    • Light and great design with kickstand

    Cons:
    - Throttles a lot. I'm guessing due to fanless design on i5. Can't comment on the i7 model.

  • I have an old Pro and it is still running smoothly and retains it's battery. Is great for portability.
My partner bought a Surface Laptop and it is also a nice piece of hardware. Worth it if you need a larger screen and real keyboard rather than a cover.
