Boost Porting - 3/4G not working but text and calls fine

Hi OzB,

I ported out of Optus to Boost Prepaid (the OzB starter pack one) on 28 Jan (last Tues). Right now, 3/4G doesn’t work but text and calls are fine (using old number which has successfully carried over). I called up Boost tech support but they said that there was maintenance to 3/4G in my area which is why I can’t access internet. This is incorrect because I’ve been round Melbourne and even to Mornington Peninsula these past days and still don’t have internet access.

Have any of you had this kind of problem with Boost? I was really looking forward to being part of the superior Telstra network but this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. Today, I called up again and was suggested to put SIM in a different mobile to test if either handset or SIM is faulty. If it’s faulty, they have to send a replacement SIM and transfer this number over…pain in the a.

Anyway, let me know how your Boost activation experience has been…would be comforting to hear I’m not the only one

Cheers,
A

What's showing in Settings -> Mobile -> Mobile Data Network?

Try turn Mobile/Cellular data off, restart and turn it back on

Recently had the same popup (not on Boost though) - did the above and it worked again

Take a look at your APN Settings

This is the most likely reason.

      • May still be set to Optus rather than Telstra (or Boost if they have their own APN).

        • I think the APN settings are correct? Not too sure as I don’t have much technical knowledge. These setting were automatic after inserting Boost SIM

  • I had this exact problem when porting to Boost. Eventually the techs resolved it after about a week. It was especially annoying because the technical team only work Mon-Fri 9-5 so contacting them while working was difficult.

Hi all, the issue has been fixed after being on the phone with the technical team. The issue was I had a profile installed from another carrier I had used in the US (H2O) which was causing problems. I had to go to Settings -> General -> Profiles and delete that which fixed the data connection instantly. Hope this helps anyone who might have this problem in the future!

    • I had the same issue. Had used an e-sim in the US that installed a profile (MobileX). But I was using a sim from a More Telecom. This was not a problem while using that sim - still had the MobileX profile. But recently I ported to Boost from More Telecom, and then started having this issue. Thanks to your post, I managed to delete the profile as outlined above and the Data from Boost started working.
