So I went to go open an account at NAB and I had a talk with one of the guys there, while asking some questions I mentioned the Commonwealth cashback and asked if NAB have plans to do anything similar. He told me that this weekend they're starting a promotion in the papers that either gives you a chance or is garanteed (not quite sure on this) for you to receive a bonus $50 to $500 after you deposite $1000 in your account (again not sure if it's a specific account but I was planning to open an everyday account and an isaver so I was eligible). The $1000 has to be deposited in the first month and the offer may only be available to new NAB customers (again sorry not too sure), I can confirm that you're able to just deposite/withdraw the money and still receive the cashback.

More info should be available on the weekend but I thought it would be good to tell ozbargainers in advance so they can get in quick :)

thanks for telling! but i already have accounts there and was planning to close them all. wonder if those who used to be with them but are now not would be considered as "New customers" and be qualified to any promotion that are only available to "new customers"?

i imagine it will be like the previous $50 nab promotions but with more money involved. $500 is probably for new home loans.

  Thanks for that, but now it seems kind of lame. The guy told me $50 - $500 and he made it sound like if you buy the paper you'll at least get a $50 voucher for opening an account, I think $50,000 is pretty weak considering NAB reported 5.5 billion dollar profit this financial year.
