7-11 Muffins (Are Best before Dates Changed)

Hi guys,

So I normally pop into 7-11 in the evenings on way home from work to grab a coffee then end up buying a blueberry muffin! Something I have to stop doing.

But I often see some with the best before date and a sticker and sometimes wrote it marker.

It got me to thinking maybe the shop/shops is tampering with the dates of the muffins, which wouldn't be hard. And the funny thing was the ones in marker were all at the coffee machine I front of you while the ones with short date were in the basket.

To me you put the short date where people are most likely to purchase. Which would be at coffee machine just like you do bread. You put freshest behind.

So what's your opinions?

I once got one that taste very stale and it was well in date. I mean it was bad.

It's also not very professional if the company uses stickers on some and marker on others. No excuse not to have a supply of stickers.

Are they advertised as 'fresh'? Otherwise, it's likely frozen and defrosted. They'd then have 'consume within two days of defrosting' (thus writing a due date).

    • 14day expiry date 😑

  • I went in today, my very last one I am buying! Whether it's the shop or the company I don't trust them.

The logest expiry date was 18th Feb, That's 14 days!!

I'm glad I'm normally quite healthy but walking home from work in evenings catches me out as I want a coffee then I'm hungry also and pass by 7eleven!

Well that's it, No more muffins!

  • don't look at the kilojoule count

  • But I often see some with the best before date and a sticker and sometimes wrote it marker.

These are frozen and when removed, they date them.

Not different than coles/woolies, 3/4 of the 'bakey' stuff is frozen, Anything with the date gun sticker on it came out of the freezer.

    • Wow and a 14 day expiry after frozen?

I do not wanna know what's in them!!

Preservatives. A local bakery where I live has bread that's still soft and fresh feeling after 6-7 days on a bench when everyone else's is mouldy lol

      • Yup. This is pretty common, expiry only starts once thawed. Good chance the hand written date on it is the date it was removed from the freezer.

      • 5/6 Days for the single muffin at Woolies.

    • I know by taste something dodgy going on and the fact sometimes sticker then marker. Doest add up.

And the fact they have such a long expiry date whats adding an extra couple of days on with marker to sell.

Makes me sick as a consumer if companies do that and we pay with our hard earned money for what we believe it to be.
