Was looking around as I was thinking of grabbing the game on PS4, came across this.

Really cheap judging by prices on other sites, so thought I'd post it here in case anyone else was looking.

Note that you need the Starter Edition of the game too, and this comes with all previous expansions as well.

  • is the Starter Edition just the standard game?

Yeah it is, it's $17.95 on the PS Store, but haven't looked too deeply into grabbing cheaper versions. so total cost will be around $35 for the full experience, which is pretty good value imo, very huge and fun MMO

  • Open the original FF15 on PS4. I have no idea about expansions or DLC available. If I buy this expansion will I be missing some good content that was released between the original and this? Thanks for help?
Feel free to link me to a resource which clearly explains the expansions, DLC, etc so you don’t have to type it all out lol. Thanks

This is FFXIV, the MMO, not FFXV. I have been playing this since the original FFXIV Online Open Beta, there are heaps of content between A Realm Reborn (starter edition). There are two Expansions before Shadow Bringer, namely Heavenward and Stormblood. Each expansions add 10 lvl cap, quest line for each of the job (combat AND gathering/crafting), 2-3 new jobs, dozens of dungeons, raids, trials, a random generated multifloor dungeon with each expansions, a multi party oriented huge maps for the purpose of grinding artifacts, etc. Lots.

In Shadowbringer, they take a step back and streamline the storyline for each job into profession branch. E.g before each disciple of war job has 5 quests, now all melee DoW (4 jobs) share 5 quests plus 1 job specific. The story however is increasingly more complex and in depth. Combat is streamlined and is more fast paced now but is still slow enough and not action oriented.

      • Lol whoops. Thought I was getting FF15 expansion. Thanks for the info.

        • FF15 did get a DLC last year, Episode Ardyn, which was the last DLC (There were 3 DLCs prior to it which were packaged as Window Edition, Episode Prompto, Ignis and Gladius).

Tbh if you are looking for the original FF feel then FF14 is much better than FF15 in this regards, with a much better story and the battle is closer to traditional ATB battle system albeit you're only controlling one character.
