Subaru BRZ Purchase Price

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone (or know of anyone) that has bought a BRZ from a dealer. Curious to know how much you paid for which model.

I own a WRX premium, my mum is wanting to buy the BRZ and there’s barely any info on what people were able to bring the new RRP down to.

Any help would be appreciated! (Not interested in the 86).

Cheers
Chthonic

Reason being I’ve heard horror stories re: servicing at Toyota. It’s a boxer engine, hence why it makes sense to go with the BRZ.

There you go, one story that took me 5 seconds to search and was actually on this site.

Having fun negging my responses? Lmao.

            • +2

@Chthonic: Dude, I was out of negs yesterday and still waiting for rollover today. Sorry if you think you’re that important that I would waste my negs on your hilarity.

I did throw up a few updoots to negate any negs you voted with though… :D

              • -2

@pegaxs: Someone doesn’t like me and is negging all my responses haha. Makes me laugh that someone is so petty. I only + votes, thinking negging someone’s response is ridiculous.

@Chthonic: It's literally a (+) or (-) on a computer screen. Why do you care.

                  • -2

@TheBilly: I don’t care mate. I just think it’s funny someone is going to the effort to do so. If I cared I’d be complaining, not stating I find it funny someone is going to the effort to do so.

It’s like all these people digging through my posts I made years ago, ridiculous. Does it bother me? Absolutely not.

                    • @Chthonic:

                      LOL. Ok, Champ.

Nearly every response you've made in this thread is you complaining about negs and/or people going through your comment history. For someone who doesn't care, you seem to be making a lot of references to it. :D

@pegaxs: So what about the literal evidence I just threw at you? This isn’t the first I’ve heard of an 86 owner complaining btw.

You’re a mechanic and you seriously haven’t heard of this? Far out remind me to never take my car anywhere near you, I’m a computer scientist and I probably know more about cars than you.

So what about the literal evidence I just threw at you?

Anecdotal at best… Very little context and one person's observation. I certainly wouldn't call it "overwhelming".

You’re a mechanic and you seriously haven’t heard of this?

Did you even read that thread you posted up. I literally commented on that post where I said I was unaware of the cost to replace spark plugs on an 86/BRZ (Having never owned one, nor serviced one, nor worked at a dealership while the 86 was being sold). So, this proves not only that I have heard of it, it proves I have acknowledged it and have had this information for a year. (I'm predominately a heavy diesel mechanic now. Don't work on a lot of hair dresser cars any more…)

remind me to never take my car anywhere near you

I don't service Subaru shit boxes. And if you bought it in here with that attitude, you'd simply be asked to take your shit box elsewhere.

                  I’m a computer scientist

What is it about computer techs and owning a WRX? Two biggest consumer groups of WRX vehicles are the Lebbonese and computer techs.

I probably know more about cars than you.

                  Yeah, I doubt that. :D

  • I will never go to a Subbie dealer. Went into the Melbourne City one ages ago to test drive a WRX. Salesmen said I would have to buy one to test drive it. WTF. Walked away and bought some other brand. My parents swear by them and have had them for ages. Better off going for an 86 as at least the price is going to be more competitive between Toyota dealers IMO. Not the most economical cars by the way. Then again no sports cars are.

    • Yep. Melbourne Subaru are a strange breed….I had a similar experience. It's like they are doing you a favour by letting you walk into their showroom. But then again, there are a lot of Melbourne people who just walk in and say "I'll take the blue one thanks" with no discussion about price.

      • Glad I wasn't the only one that experienced it. Sure I was young and the salesmen thought I wasn't a serious buyer, but really, ooor form. Was your experience recent. Mine was a long time ago. I can't imagine buying a car without testing it, but that is the way of the future ie Tesla. You may not even see the real thing till it arrives.

        • 5-6 years ago. But like you, I won't go back.

re: Tesla. The good thing is that if you buy it and don't like it, you can return it for a full refund. Try that at Melb Subaru !!!!!

@oscargamer: Well then either you're not telling us something or you really did something to make them sus enough about you.

5 years ago I walked in there to buy a car, was able to haggle it to one of the lowest price on car forums comparitively. sales staff were very nice and even offered to a test drive other cars I wasn't interested in for lols and also to grab as much canned drinks from the fridge as I wanted

Probably the best experience of a mainstream dealer I've seen. Compared to dealers like Nissan, I've never once felt like an enemy just for haggling.

            • @plmko: I wasn't wearing a suit, had just come from test driving a jag and a stinger. Both were happy with my appearance and attitude. But thanks for your input.

              • @oscargamer: Why do you assume I was wearing a suit? I came in a worn polo top and some shorts btw, but not that I even asked what you were wearing. Nice try though.

Sounds like you have a serious case of attribution bias because of your own weird experiences.

                • @plmko: What have I done to upset you?

I never mentioned what you were wearing. I was saying I had just been to a Jag dealer, not in a suit (probably in cargo pants and blunnies), and they treated me beautifully. Had a latte and a nice chat.

Melb Subaru (the one bloke i spoke to) was an arse.

Why can't I have a different experience to you? Maybe the bloke didn't like my accent, or hairstle or whatever. My comment was that I had been to a number of dealers on that same day and was treated well in 2 places and not well in Melb Subaru. Nothing had changed on my part…..

            • @plmko: I was in casual clothes, but that should not mean anything to a car salesmen. I said to him I am looking to buy a car today. What I wear shouldn't matter. I could be a cashed up millionaire for all they know.

    • Had the complete opposite experience at docklands subaru - they gave me the keys and told me to take as long of a drive as I wanted..

  • Resale will plummet if the supposed new model with more power comes to fruition.

As a Toyota salesperson, we don't even have a demo as these aren't popular any more. Certainly look to a 1yo model

          • @jimbobaus: I think it's great that he can afford such a nice car after being bankrupt.

            • @pegaxs: Why would someone come onto the internets and just lie to us?

@pegaxs: Yeah, first partner ruined me. Life is much better now :)

Having fun digging through my prior posts and posting irrelevant responses? :)
